He does ![]() I've read every all the books in the drizzt books and have enjoyed reading all of them with the exception of The Pirate King. I don't know something about that book just didn't feel right reading. The ones with Artemis and Jarlaxle(The Sellswords Triology) are by far my favorite ones. You guys that stopped before The Sellswords Trilogy should at least go back and pick them up. | |

+3 Internets | I loved the Icewind Dale Trilogy, but didn't like any of Salvatore's followups. Other Forgotten Realms works I really enjoyed (almost exclusively the early novels): The Avatar Series The Moonshae Trilogy (followup Druidhome Trilogy was so-so) The Finder's Stone Trilogy The Harper's series (some were mediocre, but The Ring of Winter or anything by Elaine Cunningham made up for them) Pretty much anything written since the mid 90's seems to be crap, unfortunately. |

| I'm on Legacy of the Drow (read all the ones prior) and I have to say the only thing I find redundant is: "Drizzt lets loose a flurry of attacks with his scimitar!". I swear...how many times can Salvatore write this and not grow tire of the exact same wording?

+166 Internets | After the homeland trilogy he knew that we'd buy every book no matter what he wrote so he kinda phoned it in after awhile. You can only write, "it looks like a dance!" so many times before it gets silly. |

+3 Internets | I feel the need to recommend Heroes Die by Matt Stover, for anyone that liked the action in Drizzt but wants something more grown up and bad ass and generally better in every way. Caine > Drizzt

| The Drizzt books are entertaining and very detailed; I never said they were bad. It's just redundant how he uses the same description of attacks over and over. But, like I said, I enjoy the books thoroughly. ![]() edit: Thanks for heads up on the Caine series -- will check that out.

| Eh, I despise Drizzt. I've read as far as Sea of Swords, and I loved them until I realized it was the same boring ass emo Drizzt is in every single book. Spoiler Alert, click show to read: Wulfgar, for as awkward as it was fitting him into the story, at least is a dynamic character who underwent development and changed significantly. Wulfgar, Jarlaxle, and Artemis are the only ones who really interest me, because they are the only ones who actually undergo any change.

| Okay. I'm almost done with Legacy of the Drow -- on the final book in that quadrilogy, and I'm up at a question. Should I read Malazan or Paths of Darkness? I read on Amazon that Darkness is good.

+1 Internets | Between the two choices, I'd go with option C. Order Heroes Die from Amazon. If you like that book, definitely shell out the cash for Blade of Tyshalle. Thats just my preference though. Theres a bunch of others here who would pimp reading Malazan next. |

| A Bearded Gnome | I just finished the The Silent Blade and I'm wondering with all the Cadderly stuff that's been presented in the last two books should I just wait to read the others and read the Cleric Quintet now and then read the rest of the Drizzt books or just continue on to The Spine of The World? As an aside, I liked the Silent Blade, but Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

| A Bearded Gnome | Heh, I'm gonna stick it out no doubt about it. I love these books they are really good. He puts more than enough carrots in front of me to make me have a hard time from putting the books down. I went to the park one day last week to read and ending up staying out there 5 hours just reading. These books have me hooked like no other books have so far.
