| Favorite Character From a Book (and why) I'll start. Mine are pretty random. Sandor Clegane and Jamie Lannister (A Song of Fire and Ice) - Jamie for realizing he is a fuck up and (not to spoil it for anyone who hasnt read it) doing something about it, and Sandor because he's so unpredictable Zedd (Sword of Truth) - because he burnt Panis Rahl to death in the backstory, and you know it had to be an epic fight Damastes (The Demon/Seer/Warrior King) - because he has a two way with chicks in the books. lastly, Bob Lee Swagger (Point of Impact / Time to Hunt) - fictionalized marine sniper full of badassedness. So badass, I had to make that word up to describe him. |

| Tyrion Lannister (A Song of Ice & Fire) for being the ultimate black sheep of a family and the way he deals with it.

| Takeshi Kovacs (Altered Carbon, Broken Angels, Woken Furies) - he's a complete bastard who exacts revenge on anyone who crosses his path in as brutal a way as he can. Anti-heroes don't get any better than this. Definitely agree about Bob Lee Swagger too, though I'd have to say that even as full of badassness as he is, he ain't got nothin' on his father, Earl. |

+1 Internets | Clavain from Alastair Reynolds' book "Redemption Ark". He is utterly brilliant and is utterly selfless in his attempt to save the human species. There is a whole list of characters from the Malazan series that are worthy: - Paran for finally embracing the fact that he is the Master of the Deck and then making decisions regardless of what everyone else wants. - Quick Ben, Fiddler and Kalam...pure awesomeness - My favorite character is definitely Apsalar. The sentence towards the end of "The Bonehunters" sums it up nicely. Quote:

| Jon Casey from the Grapes of Wrath. The character of the ruined preacher is one I have always liked very much but Casey's unique take on religion, what is good, and life endeared him to me.

| Harry Seldon from the Foundation series, for being a socially-inept supernerd who at the same time is a bad ass mofo with his martial arts skills. He uses his mental capacity to essentially shape the future of the galaxy for 1000 years. To top it off he falls in love with the original "hot robot character that looks human" and accepts it. |

| Raistlin Majere. While the dragonlance stories themselves werent all that well written, Weis and Hickman did a tremendous job with character development. Anomandaris Rake. I would put Karsa in too, but he is a fucking cheater. |
