| The character Kane, created by Karl Edward Wagner. And for why I like him, the Author put it best:- "who could master any situation intellectually, or rip heads off if push came to shove". He is a great anti-hero, whose abilities both physical and magical are a match for anyone, but he always seems to lose in the end heh. |

+15 Internets | Vlad Taltos hasn't been mentioned yet. Human assassin/thief kicking ass in a world dominated by supposedly superior elf types. The list of favorites from Discworld would be staggering, so I'll just say Sergeant Detritus of the City Watch. |

For Discworld, the Monk Lu-Tzu from Thief of Time. Humble and wise, but will kick your ass. Also, Death.

| Tehol and Bugg from the Malazan series, their dialogue is always so fun to read. I've read through Bonehunters and I'm hoping to see them again soon. So many other cool characters in this series too. Jaime definitely grew on me to become my favorite character in ASoIaF, with Arya a close second. Can't wait to see how Martin continues to develop all of his characters. |

| Paul "Muad'Dib" Atredies from the Dune series. The Kwisatz Haderach! The character from the book series is actualy pretty complex. Don't let the movie or the mini series fool you. Lazarus Long from various Robert A. Heinlein books. How can you not like a character that is so "overly wise in the ways of the world". He is also attributed with many of my favorite quotes: "A "critic" is a man who creates nothing and thereby feels qualified to judge the work of creative men. There is logic in this; he is unbiased — he hates all creative people equally." "Expertise in one field does not carry over into other fields. But experts often think so. The narrower their field of knowledge the more likely they are to think so." "Never underestimate the power of human stupidity." ~Tagad |

I recently read Karl Edward Wagner was the first person to assemble the works of Robert E Howard and present them in there original form, so mad props to him for that.

| Romo is a manwhore | Silk from David & Leigh Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean series. While I think a lot of the characters from the two volumes can be stuck into a relative archetype, Silk fits into several and I found myself wanting more information about him and what he does as opposed to everyone else. Like when they're traveling out in the middle of nowhere and they run into an army that he owns. And the whole bean subplot in the middle of the Mallorean. Tyrion gets my vote as well and Martin needs to hurry the fuck up with the next book. |

| Not to sound pretentious, but both the Narrator and Roderick Usher in The Fall of the House of Usher. They're both really interesting characters. It may pertain more to the story than the characters, but by the end when you see that the Narrator has become Usher and vice versa it's really quite interesting. |

| Loved Tyrion as well, definitely number one up there. Arya never really got to me that much. Her chapters were OKAY, but that was it. Agree on Jaime part. However, Jon probably tops it a bit more. So Tyrion and Jon for me from ASOIAF. I've just got 4/5 into the first Malazan book. I love it. Can totally agree with the Quick Ben thing along with Kalam. They're really cool. I also love how Anomander Rake is portrayed so far, hell, even Shadowthrone seems pretty cool to me. Since I'm not that far, I'll refrain from commenting further I think. Paran is okay for me as well, hoping he'll grow more onto me. On that behalf I think I oughta distinguish between favorite characters and how I just like the characters and how they are written in general by Erikson. Like, I dig pretty much everyone of them like Whiskeyjack, Dujek, Tayshrenn, Hairlock etc., but they're not necessarily favorites ![]() PS. Someone mention Harry Potter and it is a ban for life time!

| Detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch: His mother was a prostitute, he was a tunnel rat in vietnam, and now he is an asshole detective for the LAPD who solves murders and always seems to piss everyone off while leaving a trail of carnage and bodies behind. Harry Potter (Surprised nobody else said it) Hannibal Lecter M.D. Atticus Finch To Kill A Mockingbird lol just saw this.
