| Started reading the first Wheel of Time book, fast losing interest though, i guess thats maybe because ive just finished The Colour of Magic and images of Rincewind kicking people in the groin are alot more interesting that some kids looking at dark riders for the first 5 chapters. |

+2 Internets | Definitely agreed that the Silmarillion was the ultimately unreadable book for me. I tried and I tried. Then I won 100 dollars off of various friends who adored LotR betting them that they'd be incapable of finishing it. Edit: Hrm, whoops, didn't realize how old this thread was. Slow moving forum. |

| I fnished the subtle knife and I must say it was pretty good. Glad I did finish it. I also finished A game of Thrones and that was an awesome book to. I like how he doesn't seem to take sides in his book more that he just tells you the stories of multiple sides. If you try to become to attached to one side you could become upset later when something happens to them or when they do something you don't agree with. Its definitely an emotional rollercoaster. Now if only they would put Malazan or books 5+ of Dresden files on audio book... sigh..

+20 Internets | Sword of Shannara, that whole series. Never ever been able to get into it. Periodically I consider buying a second-hand copy and starting again...but then I just give up before I start. It feels strange to be posting in what is, for me, a new wing of the forum. |

| Got stuck on Memories of Ice (malazan) pretty early on. The disconnect from what had gone before threw me. Went back about 6 months later and restarted it with the thought in mind that 1)yeah, the old crew isn't here 2) It will all tie in somewhere down the road. Really glad I did as it's right up there at the top of my malazan favorites list now. |

| Just recently I got stuck/gave up, on A Tale of Two Cities, right after the trial in the second book. I'm sorry, Dickins might be classic literature, but the story was going fucking nowhere.

+7 Internets | The LOTR of the ring trilogy for me. It was a pain reading through the first book (although I'm glad I learned about Tom Bombadil), and I just gave up when the Two Towers started. If the book wasn't so slow I wouldn't mind it. |
