I need stories about amnesia and/or memory loss

I'm looking for stories, fictional or non-fictional about characters and/or people with amnesia and/or massive memory loss. I'm particularly interested in the thoughts and stream of consciousness with an individual that has had severe amnesia. Complete amnesia would be best. I.E. what they thought when they saw people, landmarks, how they knew how to speak. I need good writing, with very believable and accurate portrayals of an individuals thoughts and discoveries with amnesia.

Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Memento Mori by Jonathon Nolan is pretty good. It as also made into a movie, if you're interested.

The protagonist has Anterograde Amnesia - Anterograde amnesia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In short, he makes notes to remember things.

Not a book but Oldboy is worth watching if you're into memory stuff.

I need at least five. Cmon people, do some research!

Funny that you've said Oldboy. I've had the movie sitting here for about a year and never watched it.

"The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" by Oliver Sacks has several cases of amnesia. They aren't stories per se, but give alot of insight into how a person's life is when they have Korsakoff's Syndrome etc. An excellent read.

The first thing I thought of was Borges's short story Funes, the Memorious which you can find online or in dead tree form as part of Ficciones.

I wasn't going to suggest it initially, since Funes has the opposite of amnesia, but it might be of interest to you regardless if you haven't read it.

Anne Perry, The Face of a Stranger, a Victorian police officer with amnesia must investigate his own past along with the murder he’s been assigned to; #1 in the William Monk mystery series

Anne Perry in general has a series on it I think.

Or if you are into Quantum Fiction Flight by Vanna Bonta
