In my opinion (which is highly subjective), the "magic" of Thor is more of an augmentation sort of thing, granting him all of his powers and strength and such, not an EQ sort of thing where Superman has low resists to magic so Thor's magic-based attack gets through. Thor's attacks are, to me, simply augmented physical attacks for the most part. Mjolnir is a physical object striking him with massive force, but still just a physical object, despite it being a magical artifact. If you don't make that sort of assumption, Thor would win instantly, as would Juggernaut, simply because there is no way Superman could withstand a punch from Juggs or a blow from Mjolnir, etc. Same with the lightning, because if you say it is magical lightning Superman gets instantly fried and the fight is over.

To me the "magic" vulnerability is not meant to mean anything magical instantly fucks him up (like Kryptonite would). It just provided another avenue from which to present some sort of danger to Superman once in awhile. And based on those assumptions I made, I feel that Superman would win in the end.

As a total aside, I'd like to point out that back when I was reading (when he had his 4 issue mini-series), the Jack of Hearts would have fucked up all of those "lesser" heroes without even trying. He was too powerful to stay near the fucking planet with the love of his life, for Christ's sake. I guess something happened recently to lower his power or something.

It used to be said that Superman had no protection against magic or telepathic attacks. But lately, we've seen him withstand several attacks along this line (but be visibly hurt and shaken up). He just fought the sorceror Orion for several issues, and got really hurt. Its like if Superman was 100% resistant to all attacks, he's like 80% resistant to magic and telepathic attacks.

Regarding Thor being magic-based, I agree with the physical attacks being physical (and not magic). But throughout the years, Thor's storms, lightning and energy blasts have been called magic. I think that the writers of the comic book above purposely left out Thor's magic energy attacks because they know who would win.

And I don't think Superman has ever lost a crossover fight between Marvel and DC. Its like they have something in their contract saying that any other hero can lose in a fight except for Superman. Superman has owned the Hulk twice now in a fight.

Like I said, Marvel and DC must have some contractual agreement that Superman will never lose when they do a big crossover.

The Hulk gets nowhere near the same respect that Thor gets, even though Thor and the Hulk constantly fight each other to a standstill.

I am a bit surprised that 80% of the voters voted for Thor, when most other polls show that voters are split 50/50. I am surprised not many people are arguing for Superman, given that most other polls have them pretty much in a dead heat.

I supposed the other side is that Superman still has super speed, is more invulnerable than Thor and also stronger than him. Even post-nerfage, Superman once pulled the moon out of orbit (in the late 90's).
