That doesn't make any sense. He doesn't want to be Batman and he isn't anything like him. Tim Drake would be more logical.

Nightwing is a better choice. DC has spent years selling people on the fact that Nightwing could match Batman in a fight and has a high-level of detective skills. He may not be as obsessed, but he still gets the job done in his own way.

Tim Drake is the worst choice for Batman. He's still a teenager, and doesn't have the fighting skills that Batman has. No one is going to take a high-school age Batman serious. He's still a kid. There is no logic in making him Batman right now.

I don't think Tim Drake is a good choice either, but he fits better with how the characters are. With all the hype if this isn't any more complicated than one of his protegee's taking on the title I'll be sorely disappointed.

I really disagree with this statement. He may have sought his initial independence when he was younger, but as he grows older he's changed. The last time Batman got "retired" (when Bane broke his back), Nightwing expressed his disappointment at Batman choosing Azrael over him. And its been awhile since I read the issue, but I think Nightwing even stated that he always thought he'd be the only one to replace Batman one day.

And it makes zero sense to put a pre-pubescent teen behind the Batman costume. ZERO. Robin can barely handle running the Teen Titans, let alone try to be a leader of the JLA. It would look so funny seeing a kid sitting there trying to give Superman and Wonder Woman advice.

There needs to be a story where Bruce Wayne should clone himself and create the Batman army. Then it will flash forward into the future where the entire galaxy is recreated in his image. And then flash forward again an unknown time in the distant future where Moses comes across a burning bush and asks, "Who are you?" and the burning bush replies, " I am batman"

Where would one need to start to catch up on Batman at this point? Is there a book running currently that is leading up to whatever this revelation is going to be?

The issue leading up to this had the woman he was out on a date with figure out he's Batman. That was it. I didn't even recognize who she.

The last storyarcs were the return of Rash Al Ghoul and Batman being hunted by three Bat-look a likes. They didn't really tie in at all and neither did anything going on with the Crisis.

I think you can pick up Issue 1 of this and be fine.
