Batman to be Killed?

From what I understand the Batman RIP storyline will go through these issues:

Batman #676-681
Detective #846-850
Nightwing #147-150
Robin #175-176
Batman & The Outsiders #11-13

There is some new group that has shown up and Batman is going after them and they him or somthing.

Just a bump as last week's second part of Batman RIP (Batman #677) was pretty amazing. A lot of unexpected stuff coming out. Some of it may be totall bullshit, but it is pretty shocking nonetheless

The idea of the leader of the group out to destroy Batman being Bruce Wayne is pretty awesome. Also the "seekrit infoz" revealed about his father was pretty nutty too. Lots of good stuff.

Well in that TV series (Batman 2010 or something) we see bruce wayne in his late 70s having trained a "new batman".

It looks like Bruce Wayne will be killed. DC has dropped a ton of obvious hints:

1- At ComicCon, Jim Lee (a VP of DC Comics and lead dev for the DC MMO) stated that when Bruce Wayne dies, they'll replace him with the new Batman in game.

I find it hard to believe DC will kill off their cash cow. Supposedly, Batman has produced more cash then Superman has, and is DC's #1 I.P.

Batman can't die. Batman can, yes, but not Bruce Wayne. And aslong as he's alive, everything could happen.

I don't think killing him off (for a while) would be a bad thing for the property. A year or two of so of the DC universe having to make due without him could have some great storytelling potential and off-canon comics like All Star Batman and Robin could still continue. A "Dark Knight Strikes Back" type of anarchy could slowly beset the world leading to a few heroes embarking on a mission to return Batman from the dead because he's the only one who can stop etc etc etc.

It could be far far far better than that fucking multiple Crisis, one year later, 52 garbage. Bleh.

The real problem is that far too many people remember the Death of Superman and Knightfall as being boondoggles. Batman's dead? Yeah sure. Fool me once.
