I'm plowing through the Repairman Jack series. Wasn't expecting to get sucked into this series as hard as I was. Already plowed through 8 books in under 3 weeks. Faaaast good books. I enjoy all the gun talk, and just enough fantasy thrown in to keep you guessing.

That and just about everyone in the series is expendable.

I bought Prisoner by Thomas M. Disch which was re-released because there is a TV show that will be airing on AMC next week I think.

It was a pretty good book, and you don't see much by him at the bookstore so if you are a fan and you haven't read it yet, it is worth it.

Unseen Academicals - The latest Discworld book from Pratchett. It started out a bit rough but I'm maybe 1/3 in and it seems to be picking up, I'll reserve judgement until the end.

also The Greatest Show on Earth, I'm a huge fan of Dawkins even if I disagree with his almost militant stance against religion, looking forward to getting stuck into it once I finish the aforementioned

Just read Thompson's "The Rum Diary". Complete shit. No idea why they're making a movie out of it other than Depp wanting to do more Thompson stuff and none of his other books translating easily into film. The story is not terrible but the dialogue and writing made me cringe.

It was kinda cool to see what his writing evolved (he started it when he was 22) from, but overall I'd stay away from it as he has tons of much better material.

Edit - What'd you think of it Darph?

Just picked up The Book of Taltos and The Blade Itself.
Went and go The Book of Jhereg on suggestion from this board and found it to be quick enjoyable.

Picked up recently...

RZA - The Tao of Wu
J.R.R. Tolkien - The Legend of Sigurd & Gudrun
S. Craig Watkins - Hip Hop Matters

The RZA's book has been pretty interesting so far...about halfway through. The Tolkien book seems to be a little different read than I am used to, so I don't know what to think about it yet. The other book just caught my eye.

Tell us what you think about it when you are done, I've been thinking about picking it up but haven't talk to anybody who has read it.
