Firefly CC novella by Steven Brust

I haven't read it, so no idea of the quality, but knowing that so many here like Firefly thought I would share. Steven Brust from Vlad Taltos fame was one of a number of authors that put together a proposal on a pair of Firefly novels that were supposed to come out. Though that idea fell through, Brust ended up finishing the piece.

You can get it here:

My Own Kind of Freedom: A Firefly Novel by Steven Brust -- The Dream Café

Are there any books based on Firefly/Serenity that are already out. I downloaded this but I was wondering if the series and movie were based on anything or just a studio creation.
