Dunno if that is really a bad thing, we've waited long enough now that I would prefer him to make the book / series have a great ending.

Why is that a bad thing? Barring an agreement to let him keep writing WoT books, this will be the last book for that world. Ever. He goddamn better finish it correctly and with as many words as are necessary.

My only problem with the length is that the book will definitely need to be released in two parts, which means anywhere from a 6 month to a year long gap between each volume, in all likelihood.

Hopefully Tor will get smart and release both at once, but I doubt that.

Sanderson doesn't have a lot of useless description in his writing, so all those words are going towards plot, exposition of world, and action scenes, with a splash a character here and there. Still jealous of that bastard's word output too...

It's only bad because i have to wait longer, but i'm a patient man when its required.

Only just started on the second book myself, so maybe ill get to the eleventh by the time this is released!

Although i might just toss it in the bin the next time i have to read "BLOOD AND ASHES" or "LIGHT".

No, the final book will be a single volume. The only way there will ever be more than 1 more book is if Brandon Sanderson wants to, and is allowed to, keep writing in that universe.

Not two different volumes, two different parts, like Tad Williams' Green Angel Tower was broken into part 1 and part 2 once it hit paperback or like what Bantam was going to do with the full A Feast for Crows before Martin decided to chop it down to the half novel it is now. After a certain size you just get to the point where font becomes unreadable to half the population or the book is falling apart from its own weight.

If the final book is really around 600k words, they will either have to go with bible sized font and small page margins or break the book into two individual volumes. Using normal sized font and page margins, it is literally impossible to bind a single volume hardcover book with 600k words.

Ahh, I understand now. Yeah, if it is that big it'll have to be either two volumes in paperback or one of the hardcover sized paperback novels. I suspect it'll come down in size after editing, but even at the 400k words it is right now it'll still be insane.
