Urahara is just being promoted, and it sounds as if it was just recently when Kenpachi took on the role of Captain. The timeline is getting veeeeeeery confusing now though.

It was never really openly said if Yoruichi was actually a Captain of 2nd Squad when she was the head of Special Forces, so i'm assuming during this timeline she is the leader of Special Forces and maybe a Captain.

Kensei(Vizard) is also of Captain rank, tho the Squad is unknown. A woman named Hikifune is also mentioned as the former Captain of 12th Squad, who is being promoted to Squad Zero, but her details are unknown.

Which leaves Hachi and Mashiro from the Vizard team that haven't been mentioned yet as to what rank they were previously.

Hopefully the next issue will lay out all 13, or at least those who are alive to be seen at once.

I would assume Youruichi was captain of second, but they never showed her with the captains cloak in her flashback. But that's my guess until it's said otherwise.
Kensei has gotta be captin of 6th as it's the only spot left.

The Tousen situation is a little odd, there could very easily be an continuity error here.
-He's shown in a flashback being introduced to Aizen who is a vice captain, while he and konamura are normal shinigami.
-He's shown in a flashback as a captain watching Kenpachi passing the kill test to become a captin.
So either he overtook Aizen in rank, or it's a different Kenpachi being talked about in the last chapter. Maybe Konamura was his vice captain?

Think there's gonna be a colour spread next chapter showing 10 of the captains at the ceremony to sort this out

Iirc, the Flashback scene in the Anime that showed Tousen actually witnessing the fight was during the Bount Arc which isn't in the Manga so is sometimes considered non-canon as far as the story goes.

If it was also in the Manga, i'll have to do research. I know Tousen used to be in the 5th Squad prior to being a Captain, so that could explain him meeting Aizen while both are normal Shinigami. Tousen could have then moved to Squad 9, while Aizen moved up to be Vice-Captain of 5.

Either way it seems Tousen was always higher ranked than Aizen.

I skipped the Bount stuff.

It's before he fights Kenpachi in SS arc. There is a single flahback panel which shows him in a crowd watching Kenpachi take the captains cloak off the guy he just killed. Tousen is wearing a captains cloak at the time.

Could it be possible that Isshin is one of those ???. Urahara and Isshin have an obvious past together and this would be a good time to bring it together.

He could be a vice captain, or the "dead" captain of 10th.

Well, Ichigo's dad's strength is definately captain level and he fought a arrancar ten years before the main timeline. Also what if he changed his name or took his wife's last name?

He could be the dude that was promoted to the royal guard under the guise of retirement.

Then and again he might not have been an aquaintance of Urahara's if he got promoted so early. In any case I'm pretty damn curious about this Hikufune guy.

It's known Isshin quit being a Shinigami 20 years prior to the starting of Bleach, so I'm almost willing to bet he's the 'maybe dead' Captain of Squad 10.

But then again, I wonder how long ago this new timeline actually is.

When did he fight an Arrancar!? If you mean Grand Fisher, he only fought him in the main timeline: not in the past. And Grand Fisher only becomes an Arrancar after he fights Ichigo.
