[Manga] Naruto (warning: spoilers up to current chapter)

The Naruto anime thread is kind of derailed into a discussion of the recent manga chapters, and we're having to use spoiler tags to avoid ruining it for those who only watch the anime (which is quite a bit behind the manga currently).

Let's use this instead to discuss the manga, and maybe even get some good weekly discussion going on each time a new chapter is released.

Well, joking aside, I do think Jiraiya's number may be up. Kishimoto has a habit of focusing on a characters backstory before their death, which has been happening lately. Not to mention a few chapters ago there was some pretty blunt foreshadowing going on between Tsunade and Jiraiya.

I'm personally hoping he doesn't DIE, but that he is defeated soundly and that will prove Pain's ability to us.

Sorry, he is going to die. That will fuel Naruto into destroying Akatsuki. During the fight, Kakashi will die, Naruto will go berserk, Sasuke will control him and fight Akatsuki. Naruto will die afterwards, being named an honorable Hokage of Konoha, Sasuke will run off to be more emo, Ichigo will turn into a hollow, and Sakura will marry Chouji.

Can anyone recommend a good site to download the Naruto manga? I've been following the anime but I do kind of want to get ahead of things since they seem intent on dragging it out. Basically if anyone can point me to a torrent or something of good English subs, I'd appreciate it.

So how did you guys take the revelation a few chapters back that Tobi = Madara?

I'm surprised at how little most people are talking about it, it was a pretty big WTF for me. I mean, I half expected him to have one sharingan (alot of people thought he was going to turn out to be Kakashi's childhood friend Obito) but I really didn't expect this.

I hate how we're probably going to have to wait forever to find out what the deal is. Why was he acting like a retard before if he's so badass? Why did he need Sasori's ring and want to join Akatsuki if he's pulling the strings behind the scenes?

Narutofan is definitely the way to go for weeklies though. They're always pretty quick about it.

As for Tobi, I have absolutely no idea what the deal with him is, but it's definitely gonna be something cool. The Uchiha Madara revelation is interesting because Jiraiya feels Madara was actually the one behind the nine-tails demon fox attacking Konoha.

I honesty don't think he is really Madara. I think he is a batshit insane Obito. It just doesn't make any sense that Madara would be wearing a mask that covers one eye like that. Unless the First Hokage tore his eye out or something. A 150-200 year old Madara doesn't really make much sense.

I definitely see Jiraiya struggling against this Konan chick, mainly because he's holding back.. defeats her but Pain arrives right then - they battle.. Jiraiya nearly wins, but is then defeated (maybe even ruining one of Pain's 'bodies'). Definitely seems to be foreshadowing his death with all his recent actions/storyline going on.

It doesn't make sense unless he's immortal. Unlikely, Obito seems more likely.

Yeah Goltana, I'm feeling it too and bracing for an upsetting moment. His death is necessary for the evolution of Naruto's character though. Pain killing Jiraiya will motivated Naruto to the next level. Also, it will be interesting to see how he handles not being able to use his jutsu on account of it damaging him terribly.

Speaking of which, with Naruto's jutsu, it seems to lead credence to the idea that he'll wind up playing a martyr role in his final actions. Some kind of consequence is going to come out of this new developed power - I know it won't be the last time Naruto feels its his last resort and uses it. I'm wondering at this point if it will lead to his death to achieve a goal for the leaf village, or maybe just some kind of permanent damage that will serve as a reminder.

I'm really looking forward to the fight with Jiraiya, as others have mentioned before - his jitsu is a lot more 'standard' as far as I can tell. Maybe he'll be fighting some weird shit with Konan/Pain, but it'll hopefully be a well played out battle.
