The history of the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi extends into legend. According to Kojiki, the Japanese god Susa-no-o encountered a grieving family of kunitsukami ("gods of the land") headed by Ashinazuchi (足名椎, Ashinazuchi?) in Izumo province. When Susa-no-o inquired of Ashinazuchi, he told him that his family was being ravaged by the fearsome Yamata-no-Orochi, an eight-headed serpent of Koshi, who consumed seven of the family's eight daughters and that the creature was coming for his final daughter, Kushinada-hime (奇稲田姫, Kushinada-hime?). Susa-no-o investigated the creature, and after an abortive encounter he returned with a plan to defeat it. In return, he asked for Kushinada-hime's hand in marriage, which was agreed. Transforming her temporarily into a comb (one interpreter reads this section as "using a comb he turns into [masquerades as] Kushinada-hime") to have her company during battle, he detailed his plan into steps.

He instructed the preparation of eight vats of sake (rice wine) to be put on individual platforms positioned behind a fence with eight gates. The monster took the bait and put each of its heads through each gate. With this distraction, Susa-no-o attacked and slew the beast. He chopped off each head and then proceeded to the tails. In the fourth tail, he discovered a great sword inside the body of the serpent which he called Ama-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi, which he presented to the goddess, Amaterasu to settle an old grievance.

Sasuke doesn't have MS, so Itachi's eyes wouldn't do him any use.

But the same could be said about Sasuke's eyes being of no use for Itachi since he doesn't haven't the MS - yet here we have Itachi having a hard-on for his brother's eyes.

I think Itachi's eyes will work for Sasuke and vice versa - regardless of whether or not both eyes need to have the MS for the fusion to work.

Sasuke doesn't need to have MS for it to work for Itachi. He just needs to have the sharingan and be an Uchia (Bloodline relative works best).

MS makes you blind ,thats the only reason Itachi needs sasuke eyes. With sasukes uchia eyes he can have a MS that will not make him blind.

So in summary Itachi's eyes are useless for Sasuke since he doesnt have MS and refuses to kill naruto to get it. He does have a CS2 Sharingan which can counter the MS of madera or itachi.

Itachi does need sasukes eyes so he can continue to see.

Zetsu: That so-called Susanoo, his shield can bounce back all the attacks. It's one of the three sacred treasures, the mirror Yamata no Kagami* that is claimed to be capable of bouncing back all the attacks. Together with Totsuka no Tsurugi that's used in offense, they're invincible.
Itachi: My eyes...mine...
Sasuke hurls out the sword fastened on his waist. Again, it's blocked by Susanoo.

*It should be Yata no Kagami, not sure if it's the spoiler guy's error though.

"Guu" Sasuke can't escape because Susanoo has transformed into a wall.
Itachi extends his hand towards Sasuke's eyes. Sasuke's knees tremble.
Itachi is mumbling something but it's inaudible.
Sasuke:!
Itachi extends his fingers towards Sasuke's eyes, but at this very moment he suddenly loses his consciousness. His fingers hit Sasuke's forehead.
Sasuke is petrified (figuratively ). Susanoo disappears. Itachi collapses. Zetsu sweats. (xD)Meanwhile, another white snake escapes.
An abrupt ending for the fight to the death. Why? Next chapter, Sasuke's victory.

I find it a nice touch that the last thing Itachi does is poke Sasuke's forehead. If you remember that's what he would always do to Sasuke when they were young.

Sasuke may be in some trouble next chapter if the white snake is still around and he's out of chakra...could be the return of Orochimaru for awhile.

What chapter was this stated again? Specifically the part about Itachi's eyes not giving/working with Sasuke. I'm sure Itachi never made mention of this limitation. If there's nothing from the recent chapters I'm going with what I said originally.

There's no proof. It's all speculation on both sides of the argument.

All we know is this:
- Madara + Brother had MS
- Madara begins to go blind
- Madara steals broski's eyes, gets eternal MS
- Itachi begins to go blind
- Itachi wants to steal Sasuke's non-MS eyes to gain eternal MS.

The assumptions / theories come from Sasuke not having MS yet. Does Itachi want them just so he wont go blind, or can he gain eternal MS from them? We don't know, because when Madara took his brother's eyes, they both had MS (stated here: http://www.onemanga.com/Naruto/386/06/). People then go on to think that if Itachi can get eternal MS from Sasuke's non-MS eyes, that Sasuke can reverse it and do the same.

I think Itachi might be perma-fucked now. He used all the most powerful jutsu available to him through mangekyo and he was basically blind before hand. He's probably totally blind now, which really reduces the badass factor of a ninja with all his techniques based in eye jutsu. We'll see though, drawing shit out and throwing in "wait I've been saving this move even though you've been kicking my ass, just for this moment!" type scenarios are par for the course.
