| Rurouni Kenshin I picked this up on Saturday and it has all but consumed my weekend (and parts of Monday). The manga was a lot like Ranma 1/2 as far as atmosphere and pacing. Overall a solid manga, and easily in my top 30. But HOLY SHIT, I watched both OVA's Sunday night and I cannot handle how awesome it was. They cut out the comedy and made it a straight period drama for both OVA's and the story absolutely burns white-hot. If you're a sucker for Ninja Scroll or Berserk style anime, I insist you pick up the first OVA. The first doesn't require any previous knowledge of the series. The second OVA is a lot like FF7: AC, in that if you aren't familiar with the entire manga story then it will confuse the hell out of you and spoil the atmosphere of the first. I would recommend the manga if you're into Ranma 1/2 style comedy and action. If you dig the first OVA, then the manga is a keystone to understanding the blatant fan-service the second delivers. Good stuff. |

| My favorate manga/anime series of all time, and always will be. I fuckin almost cried reading the last volume because I knew it was over. Despite that, I've never actually seen the OVAs, are they out of print now? |

| Heck no, you can pick them up anywhere. Look for Samurai X. PS, the Epilogue OVAs suck ass, don't bother with those. Prequel OVAs own though.

| The best order for the series is: First OVA: Reminisence (4 episodes) Anime or Manga series (Anime ends about 3/4 of the way through the story) Second OVA: Seisouhen (2 episodes) The First OVA is money. Like I said before, if you enjoyed Berserk or Ninja Scroll then you will like the First OVA. Be warned; if you don't like Ranma 1/2 then you will not like the Manga or Anime. If you complete the full story, then the Second OVA is the "end" of the series. It's a lot like the First OVA in style, but without a solid background in the story you will find the Second OVA confusing, boring, and generally homosexual. Otherwise, it's 100% pure fanboy crack. | Aye, the last two (?) OVAs turn rather dull, or in other words, gay. First few are complete kickass though. Chronologically I reckon the OVAs are first, and then series follow somewhat afterwards, but it's like moving from genre to genre. They're that much different. OVAs really just top it. The series which contains like 80-90 episodes (too lazy to recheck) are nice, but on a whole other level. Personally never read the manga as I personally suck at reading manga regardless of how much I like or dislike an anime series.
