| [ASoI&F] - Arya ***Possible Spoilers in this thread*** This might not be enough for its own thread, but I know alot of people are big fans of Arya, myself being one of them. I saw some interesting things on the ASoI&F thread about Arya that I hadn't realized reading the books. Usually I catch on to these sorts of things, but I heard people talking about Arya training to be a faceless assassin? Where did you guys draw this conclusion? I was under the impression she was just in some sort of budhist style monastery and they were teaching her their ways. Please discuss all of your facts/theories about Arya for past books, Feast for Crows, and for A Dance with Dragons here. |

+4 Internets | I don't recall his name right now, but she recieved that coin from the faceless assassin who helped her, and killed any 3 that she wanted. She is now at the temple that trained him. Also her training since arriving there has seemed to be the training for becoming 'nobody'. She is tied for most interesting character for me, along with Tyrion of course. |

| I realize Jaqen Haqar (sp) is an amazing assassin and I liked him alot, but I had no idea he was connected to t he same temple that she is in, or that the faceless men are trained to be "nobody", although I guess it makes sense, giving their name. Very cool. |

| Spoiler heavy, read at your own risk It should be pretty obvious that arya is training to be a faceless assassin. She asks questions directly related to what jaqen can do, like how to change your face on will like he does. Im pretty convinced that Arya has been targeted by the faceless assassins since she was born, because they see destiny in her future, having to do with the prophecy in the book. I believe Jacqen was syrio, who was teaching arya from a very young age on how to use a weapon and defend herself. Notice during her travels, jaqen has been there to help or save her in various forms. Also, when jacqen first meets arya, he already knows her name without introduction. Slight slipup by the master, quite possibly. Jacqen also appears to move on later and help that one maester who was acting against the other maesters that wanted to stomp out magic and deny the prophecy was coming about/candle thing. Coincidence that he moves to that once arya heads to the temple and is safe in their order? Not likely. I think the assassins believe that she is the one is the one born of fire and ice in prophecy, though the course of the book points towards jon being the true hero. The good thing about asofai, is we really have no fucking clue what's right. Its a good change from most fantasy, which is "INVINCIBLE HEREO OF DESTINY COMING THRU, OUT OF WEI BADDIES, lOL!" |

| that's actually a (I guess) really hard thing to miss. That was the main reason I was looking forward to Arya's sections in the fourth book; hoping she becomes some badass assassin.

| Yeah not to be a dick but its pretty obvious that Arya is training to be an assassin, you might want to reread her chapters or something. Theres some pretty good ASoIaF forums if ya look and theres all sorts of theories or little things to pick up on. One, that im inclined to agree with, is that Syrio is actually Jaquen, or at least that Syrio was also a faceless dude. Im waiting for Arya to be hired to kill either Jon or Dany. Spoilers follow below, do not read if you havent read all the books. Not so much a spoiler b/c its pretty obvious but the Hound is alive and Cersei has some sort of Franken Gregor. Im betting they are going to fight at her trail and its going to be awesome as hell. Theres the whole R+L=J thing, where people argue that Jon is really a Targaryen. Im not sure how id feel about that but I am pretty sure hes a head of the dragon. Not so much a spoiler really but renley is gay. Thats all i can think of right now but theres a ton more, oh yea Brianne being related to dunk/egg, etc

| Yeah if you didn't pick up on the assassin training then you didn't read the goddamn books. But on a serious note when the FUCK IS THIS GOING TO BE RELEASED JESUS CHRIST IT'S BEEN YEARS. That's all, thank you. |

+2 Internets | I know how you feel, I remember checking his site when he still seemed to be certain he would finish A Dance With Dragons in 2006. There was a new Ice&Fire update on his site February 15th and the impression I got from it was that he isnīt really even that close to finishing the book. |

| I'm fine with the fact that Arya is in assassin training, although I don't think Syrio and Jacquen are the same person. Perhaps they were just related one way or another, but not the same, imo. While Arya is a really interesting character I still think her chapters weren't that much of a kick anyway. They'd be a lot more interesting to read if she was 3-4 years older than now and had those years as an apprentice on her back, possible on her way to become a "true" assassin.. you get the picture, ie. more experienced and more ready for whatever might come. I just don't see her making any difference as it is right now, although her development might be slightly interesting. On the other hand I felt Sansa's development and "training" with Littlefinger became a lot more interesting. It's just a shame you had to endure 3½ book before she became close to interesting to read about. Anyway, I guess we'll need to wait for the 6th book before hearing more about Arya, unless Martin puts in a chapter or two or releases one with her on the internet. The discussions of who you prefer to read are old, but I'll still say it: I'll miss Jaime and Cersei a lot, but replaced by Tyrion and Jon it'll do.

| I read somewhere that Martin was going to tie up some loose ends in Dance with some of the characters from Feast, to bring all the timelines together for the beginning of book 6 (due for release sometime in late 2035). So hopefully we will see Arya's story progressed a tad further without having to wait a decade for book 6. |

| Was I the only one who saw this thread, and immediately thought GRRM had released another preview chapter for 'Dance', this one being about Arya, and that this thread was merely announcing such a great day? ![]() |

| Well I feel stupid I guess, although I read A Feast for Crows over a period of 8months because I found most of it so boring. I might have skipped 4-5 chapters when I came back to it because I couldn't remember where I was. Very interesting. |
