I saw on the news that they quoted the Publisher saying it was "A Confession". That made me laugh.

Oh well.
This is about taste. This book has to be one of the WORST ideas in recent history. Yes its just a book but the subject matter is just atrocious.

I'm guessing its not the book being banned as the publishers having regained their senses from the public outcry. I'm sure if The Juice can get money to press it himself it would get printed.

That brings up an interesting question: what monetary gain will OJ see from this? I mean, just because the book isn't coming out doesn't mean he ain't getting paid. He's signed a deal with that publisher, and I'm sure that for them to not release it they'd have some sort of penalty clause.

Doesn't he still owe millions of dollars from the civil judgements against him? Or were those whiped out by his bankruptcy?

Having not read too much into this I have to admit, when I initially heard about this book I thought "So....he's confessing without actually confessing...odd. Why?"

The aftermath seems to suggest that OJ and/or his publicists seem to think that there was NOT going to be some backlash on a book like this. It almost seems like OJ thought he could not only "confess" but be culturally embraced for doing so? Or maybe it's just a play for money.

I dunno, I cannot in any way shape or form imagine a man in OJ's position that would release a book like this unless he has some real attonement to face. If ever you thought OJ innocent, I'd hope now you see that no normal person would do this. I mean seriously, why release a "How I Did It." book unless you're guilty? Can you imagine being falsely accused of killing your wife and then saying, "Well folks, I didn't kill her, but IF I DID, this is how I would have done it! HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! I AM YOUR FRIEND!"

I think OJ needs help. He is not living in the real world.

And for any of you saying the words "ban" and "books" in the same sentence, please become deceased as soon as possible, thanks.

The book was NOT banned the publishers made this move all on their own and it was highly unprecedented because of the loss of money.

Because he got away with murder and has been dying to tell someone how he did it.

I wonder how bad the book really is. I heard an interview where OJ basically said that the whole confession/hypothetical thing was COMPLETELY overblown, and the title "If I Did It" came from the publishers in hopes of drumming up sales. Apparently the book was about their relationship and how he dealt with the murder trial etc, and a very, very small section was about anything hypothetical. Of course, being OJ, this could be bullshit too.

He received a $3 million advance for the book from the publisher, HarperCollins (incidentally, HarperCollins is a division of NewsCorp, which also owns Fox, which was planning to air the companion interview segments). He gets to keep this money, despite the book's not being published -- though I'm sure some of it will go to covering his legal expenses.

I believe that is why he moved to Florida, because he can't be compelled to pay civil penalties from out of state judgements.
