| I just finished Legion...wow. Dan Abnett is a hugo/nebula caliber writer in my opinion. I finished His Last Command yesterday and will start on Armour of Contempt tomorrow. I'm pretty close to owning every black library book that Dan Abnett has ever written.

| Of all the HH novels I must say I am tied between Fulgrim/Legion being the best. Fulgrim had me crying inside at watching his fall and eventual corruption, a damn sad read. Legion on the other hand is incredibly badass in flushing out the true reason for the Alpha's turn instead of "Horus found Alpharius, so Alpharius liked him more than the emperor!". It is immensely relieving to see one of the 800 outside forces who have been trying to warn the Imperium that "Here Be Dragons" when seeking Chaos, actually get through to someone. It also awesomely explains why the Alpha Legion still uses the "For the Emperor" battle cry. On the other end of the scale, Descent of Angels pissed me off. It was a very good story but the ending makes no fucking sense. Spoiler Alert, click show to read: All of the other HH stories are somewhere in the middle, I really do miss reading about Garviel Loken or whatever his name was from the Luna Wolves. Aside from the HH series, Gaunt's Ghosts/Ciaphas Cain novels are for the win for completely different reasons. Can't wait till Battle for the Abyss and Mechanicum. |

| Legion is book 7 of the Horus Heresy, Battle for the Abyss chronicles the fight between the Word Bearers and the Ultramarines at the Calth system that keeps the Ultramarines out of the Siege of Terra, and is the book that I have been anticipating the most. Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

| I've read all of the HH books so far, and a handful of other 40k novels, and I think Legion was the best. What you found out about Alpharius, plus the legion's reason for turning against the empire were just great, even though I found the first half of the book pretty boring. Now I'm irritated because I have to wait till August for the next one, and then quite a while for the HH novel about the war within the Mechanicum which I'm pretty excited about. |

| barnes and nobles has em at $7 a pop + free shipping on orders of $25+ got the first 4 for $27 yesterday after tax and using a 15% discount coupon and friends membership. Ebay and the "used" section can get them for even cheaper but most sellers screw you onc ombination shipping for books (ie you can $3 each for the books then $5 to ship the first and $4 more the ship the 2nd) |

| I've been waiting to pick up Only In Death because I wanted to get it in paperback since all my other gaunt's ghosts books are in paperback. The wait is killing me though, so if I see it at the bookstore today I'll probably pick it up regardless.

| No love for Ciaphas Cain? While short the books are highly entertaining. They are certainly "light" reading for the 40K universe. It is basically the store of an Imperial Commissar that ends up in the right place at the right time, even though he is always trying to avoid being in said place at said time. ~Tagad |
