| The Chain of Dogs is one of my favorite parts of the series. However the Ending of Memories of Ice will make you want to bawl like a little girl if you have anything resembling a soul residing inside of you. |

+12 Internets | Just picked up the Bauchelain/Korbal Brooch short story book today, figure it'd be a good stopgap while I wait for my copy of DoD to show up. Any feedback on it?

| So, I picked up this series in February, read through all the main books by Erikson. Loved it, but found it dense, many interwoven characters and plotlines, so I decided to re-read the whole series again immediately after I finished Toll the Hounds. Along the way, I found out about Esselmont's additions to the series, so I've been reading them as well on this pass through the series. I finished Night of Knives last week and I have to say... it was quite a let-down, mostly due to the writing style. It read like a teen fantasy novel. Before starting the book, I was so pumped to meet Kellenvad/Dancer and see how they became Shadowthrone/Cotillion. After finishing, I hardly felt I'd learned anything new about the overall series, nor did I feel NoK added any depth to any of the crossover characters/events. I'm 3/4s of the way through Reaper's Gale now and will be moving on to Return of the Crimson Guard. I'm kind of dreading it, since I found NoK so bad. Anyone out there who's read RotCG that can say whether it's any better than NoK, or am I in for another let-down? |

| I hated RotCG. It's only worthwhile because it contains some required info about the Eriksson storylines. Which I also hate. The fact that you need to read ICEs ramblings in order to get the full picture I mean. |

Also some major shit goes down in RotCG. The only thing that really fucking bothered me about that book is (one of)the main characters name is... Kyle? really? KYLE?! ugh. | |

+200 Internets | Just finished Memories of Ice. My favorite of the first three so far. It is a little easier of a read, but there's still tons of stuff going on. One of my favorite scenes was when Brood got pissed at Kruppe. He slammed his hammer into the ground. Everyone is thrown from their feet. Mountains rise out of the ground. Vast cracks in the earth open up. And when the dust clears, there stands Kruppe, dusting off his robe. I also like the interaction between the Bridgeburner grunts. It's funny how they always pick on one another. One question: I guess I missed it, but how did Tool get a flesh and blood body?

+29 Internets | You need to spoiler your stuff Wolfen. We've done a pretty damn good job of it in this thread so far and I'd hate to have to stop checking it between UK and US book releases. I'd also hate for a newcomer to have something in this amazing seires spoiled for them. |

+29 Internets | It probably took you almost as long to type that as it would take to quickly edit your posts. I'm not trying to start a fight about it, but people have shown a lot of diligence in this thread since near the beginning and I'm pretty sure everyone appreciates it. Sure book 3 is way back for most of us but you are there right now and in this thread and you probably won't be the last newcomer. And could always spoil book 4 and 5 right now because "hey who cares, right?" |
