I'm almost done with MoI.

I don't have time to read these days, back in the day I would finish a book in 3 days.

Oh well.

Fucking awesome book so far. I can't wait to get further into the series.

Just finished TBH. Fucking fantastic book as usual, and again as usual, I was up until about 3:30 in the morning because I absolutely couldn't go to sleep without finishing it.

That said, spoilers ho:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

- I can't believe he Azath'd Kalam. By far my favorite character, and seeing him not in the RG list of characters pissed me off. I almost threw the book across the room.

- Can't say I'm too thrilled about Icarium vs. Trull either, since I like both of those characters quite a bit and Icarium has always struck me as a "good guy" of sorts.

- I hope Mappo vs. Talarack Veed comes up soon.

- Onrack kicks ass.

- So does Pust. Where the fuck is Kruppe, anyway? I'd love to see a 50 page conversation with the two of them, it would make my head explode.

- Yay, another Felisin plotline. :\

- Did I miss something, or how did Korbolo Dom get in with Laseen?

You were right.

Mid Bonehunters right now. Seemed slow until...

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Paran's ass kicking of Poliel, and then being appointed High Fist (oops). The sort of major conversion of characters that tends to only happen in the end of the books.

I didn't think I would like RG much after reading some of the spoilers here in this thread, but it turned out to be really good, one of the better books, I actually liked Karsa in this book, and the way Icarium was handled.

Though as I was reading it there were some questions that popped up:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

1 - Who saved the marines from being killed? It seemed like Beak, but Bottle makes a comment that seemed to indicated he made the shield/dome.

2 - What shattered the Shadow Warren? I thought it was Icarium that did so when he was trying to rescue his father (Gothos) from an Azath House?

3 - How did a T'Lan Imass bonecaster become a dragon aspected Soletaken? One that seems to be uber badass too.

Beak's efforts saved and healed the marines. He sacrificed himself by harnessing his full potential and creating that barrier. *sniff* Good ol' Beak.

The details on the shattering of KE are very vague. Icarium destroyed an Azath that presumably claimed a fragment of Shadow, but as to the actual fragmenting, I/we don't know.

I do not know "how" Olar Ethil became a dragon aspected Soletaken, just that he's the first Soletaken and first Bonecaster. He also rivals Tiam in size, dwarfs Rake's draconian form, and is indeed an uber badass.

---

I was disappointed with Icarium's arc as it seemed to have simply fizzled. Karsa once again pissed me off for the most part. His Tauren Warstomp owning of the Seguleh was absurd. I was really yearning for Icarium to beat the snot out of him.

Man how can you not love karsa? He's a juggernaut that no one wants to fuck with.

That being said:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I do agree that the Icarium arc, while possibly not finished, has definitely fizzled.

I was as excited for a Karsa, Icarium, Rhulad battle royale smackdown as anything that has happened thus far, and the whole thing was pretty mundane in the end.

I did get a kick from Silchas Ruin showing up and thinking he's going to wreck shop in dragon form and promptly sent packing by Ben.

The anime lover in me loves the unending stream of new, badass characters, but the non-adhd part of me is starting to get tired of it. It's getting to be kind of a convoluted mess, requiring many re-readings to make sense of the overall picture.

We still don't know who Traveller is (Dassem Ultor?)

The Red Swords or Red Guard or w/e they're called. (dudes who rescued Seren at the end of MT) haven't been developed that much yet. I want to hear about Skinner!

I could read 10 books about the seguleh though.

The Crimson Guard are part of Esslemont's(sp) books. The first one is called Return of the Crimson Guard.

Return of the Crimson Guard is Esselmount's second book. His first novel in the series is called "Night of Knives" and tells the story of what happened in Malaz City the night Kellanved and Dancer ascended. Rather short, but definitely worth picking up.

I personally read "Night of Knives" after "Midnight Tides" and thought it gave alot of useful background info on subjects touched upon in "The Bonehunters"

You bastards need to denote which book you're posting spoilers for. I'm only 100 pages into RG and I'm afraid to click any of those spoiler buttons up there.
