| Steven Brust - Vlad Taltos I am a fanatical reader so I have a mountain of books that I could suggest but there are only a few series out there that once I started reading them I couldnt stop until I was done. The first was the Coldfire trilogy which I linked and the second are the books about Vlad Taltos by Steven Brust. These books are completely addictive and if you havnt read them your missing out. Not only are they interesting from a action/mystery stand point but they are at times funny as hell. Vlad's sarcasm and wit are fantastic. 1. Jhereg (1983) 2. Yendi (1984) 3. Teckla (1987) 4. Taltos (1988) 5. Phoenix (1990) 6. Athyra (1993) 7. Orca (1996) 8. Dragon (1998) 9. Issola (2001) 10. Dzur (2006) There is no offical series name, just the order that the books were published. The names seem simple but youll understand once you start reading that each book is named after one of the "Houses" within the series. The houses all have different standing/purposes and typically dont like each other. House Jhereg for example is home to some of the best assassins in the world. House Dragon is the most war-like ect. Its real interesting stuff. |

+12 Internets | Was gonna post this the 1st day. Only just started at the urging of a few guildmates in WoW. Read the 1st 5 so far and loved them. You can find them in collections in single book form. "The Book Of Jhereg" contains the first three. "the Book of Taltos" the next two. And Athyra the next two after that. They're all out of chronology but written in a way that it doesn't matter. The writer himself says you can read either way and it won't hurt you. I've heard that in 6 and 7 he changes the PoV to someone different, which is usually a huge mistake. Especially with a main character as interesting as Vlad.

| Ill be honest I did not like Orca at all. It is done a little different and I didnt connect with it like I did the others. I found the ones after Orca though to be just as great as the first ones. Dragon and beyond are good reading. So stumble through Orca if you want too you might like it... though I have found you could skip it if you wanted and wouldnt be like "huh?" in Dragon. |
