Yeah I like Asha too, but it wasn't entirely about Asha in AFFC either, more about her uncles and the drowned men.

I enjoyed AFFC well enough, if only for Cersei's POVs, but it really was way too anemic at 600-odd pages. I'm not sure if it's Martin's plodding detail-rich style or the compromises he took to get a spare book out of ADWD, but there wasn't a lot of narrative out of the book. Hell, it was practically set up as a TEASER, with every major plotline (Arya's aarrrggghh) lining up for multiple cliffhangers.

Incidentally, is the Drowned God the god of the Others? Is he lined up against R'hllor? There's a line about Damphair having black feet - it's probably just that he walks around barefoot, but it'd be interesting if all the guys he drowns and brings back are akin to the Others and the wights.

I'm pretty sure the whole, 'drowning and bringing them back' is nothing more than the ghetto way to describe CPR. Would be nice if it was something more though.

"Drowned god" is a C'thulu reference. "That which is dead may never die." All you need to know right there.

I quite enjoyed Cersei's string of fuckups and the end result.

I think she's going to bounce back - didn't the prophecy say she'd see all her kids dead before the younger and prettier queen came along and displaced her? I'm guessing Martin has some long-term Sansa vengeance in the works.

I hope so, but I got a feeling that it would be to obvious to go that route and Martin won't do it. But damn it would be nice if the good guys would win something important once in a while.

Would have been so much better if we could see Tyrions comments on the fuck ups though.

As for the younger queen, I always assumed it meant Daenrys.

God I hope it's Arya somehow=P Would love to see her come back after training and turning into some surprise hottie and just wreck Cersei's shit somehow.

I personally can't stand Asha, and hope she dies horribly very soon.

Faves: Brienne, Sandor, Jon, Tyrion, Arya, Bran, Jaime, Sansa

I tend to speedread, so I miss a ton of this stuff that you guys pick up on so it's really fun to read all the speculation in this thread. Keep up the good work.

It could well be. But it would be nice if, after an awfully long period of getting shit on, Sansa could step up and exact some revenge for House Stark and for herself personally after all the abuse Cersei heaped on her. It could be that Sansa's still around just to give us a POV on the Aerie and the Vale at this point, but I like to think she has some sort of destiny. She's being molded into the image of Littlefinger witih a nice rack, and it'd be a shame if she didn't get a chance to show off her eventually mastery of political manipulation.

It won't be a surprise for Arya fans since GRRM has telegraphed that she is, in fact, the splitting image of a younger Lyanna Stark. Ned, Catelyn and others remarked on the resemblance and Ned even assured Arya that young Lyanna had the same 'horse-face' thing going :P Seeing as how Lyanna Stark grew up to be 'Helen of Westeros': the beauty for whom the Targaryen dynasty died and the whole continent went to war, we shouldn't be surprised to see Arya turning out to be an exceptionally glamorous goddess of death.

But Arya seems destined for the young blacksmith Gendry "Bull" Storm, now the eldest of Robert Baratheon's heirs, whom I wish GRRM would develop some more. Here's hoping we'll see Gendry take a central role in the 'undead Catelyn' saga. Maybe he'll rescue Brienne or something.

I've never quite come to grips with daenerys as a main heroin, because she's just so far out of the action and has this mysterious "destiny" thing going on, which is totally counter to the rest of the cast of characters. If there was any main POV which needs to be killed off it's Daenerys, because IMO she's served her purpose by bringing the Dragons into the world.

I don't know, but for some reason Daenerys irritates me, I would rather read about Cersei any day of the week.

I loved Daenrys before her husband died. After that, her story was just boring, and she turned in to a "I can do whatever I want" annoying bitch. Hopefully it'll get better when she collides with the main story.

Dany and Jon are the main story lines, and OMG its a "hero's journey" storyline.
