You're gay if you're reading a hot lesbian sex scene and the first thing you think of is the 60 year old fat guy who wrote it.

lol but for how long? Us Hound fans need to know wtf happened! Not buying he died or became a monk!

If he dies R.A. Salvatore could take over to finish the series. We'd get 5 books a year.

And 9 out of every 10 would suck.

He's obviously the grave digger. There really isn't any question about it.

Salvatore doesn't even belong in the same sentence as Martin.

Was implying that our luck would be we would get some shit stain to finish his books when he croaks.

I avoided reading anything in this thread since I just picked up the first book. I'm trying hard to get into it, but found myself bored last night. I'm on like page 50+. I normally give every book a huge chance before giving up so I'll keep reading. I really enjoyed the prologue, but since then nothing has really happened. It seems they are just introducing characters but it's hard for me to pay attention.

That's basically the entire series up until where I got (book 3 or 4). Walking, interspersed with whatever gratuitous nonsense that GRRM was masturbating to at the time. Then more walking. There are basically 3... locations where the books take place. And while 2 of them are interesting, none of them actually ever have an impact on each other as far as I can tell. And to be honest, I don't really feel like reading a 10 thousand page series for it to all come together.

I'm going to suggest you drop it and move on to Steven Erikson if you haven't already, but you should be aware that about half of my -94 internets are from this thread. Mine is definitely the minority opinion, so you may want to keep going to see if it gets interesting to you.

Come back when you're at the end of book 1 and see how you feel then. I felt the same at that early into the book, it definately starts a little slowly, but things ramp up quickly about 1/2 of the way in and it goes from here.

Wait a sec.. You are starting a 6 (now 7) book series and you are complaining the that first part of the book is character introductions and development? Do you want to care about the people you are reading about or do you just want the sword fights and raping?

Seriously, the first 100 pages is a little slow but trust me, it pays off. There are tons of people on these boards that love these books, Korioni being in the small minority. the only problem I have with the books is waiting for the next one to fucking be finished.

There is a reason HBO is making a TV series on these books and it isn't because it is slow and sucks.
