| I think he's referring to disliking Tywin.

| Late to the party, and I haven't read through the last book to be published yet, but one thing I am waiting for is for Nymeria to somehow find Arya. My BF is reading the same series and everytime he finishes part of the book I keep asking him if it's happened, and he replies in the negative. |

| Littlefinger is the only person that can play the Game of Thrones and win. Everyone else just pretends. Let me know what you think of him after A Feast for Crows.

I'd bet that in the end Sansa takes what she has learned from him and flips it against him. | |

Win? He is a VERY Minor house lord and had little power when he started. He was Master of Coin for the realm and now.. Well I won't spoil it for anyone but he is a bit more than an up-jumped minor lord. You might be right and it probably will happen. But that hasn't happened yet. Those who have read the story so far know what has happened to the other Thrones player that thought she was all that...

| Don't know why people like littlefinger so much, he's ok and all - but his motivations always make me think he is a little creepy and has something up his sleeve.

| Eddard and his unbreakable honor sold himself out. He had a chance to turn things around but refused the help from Renly. I realy like Eddard but sometimes honor just gets in the way of doing what it takes to win just to make yourself feel better. It's been proven throughout history, people you have to fight within rules have an extremely hard time defeating those that don't limit themselves with rules and honor. And before you say, "Then you have no honor" m what's better? Having people remember your entire dead family for their honor? Or surviving and building that honor back up over time? Littlefinger always does have something up his sleeve. He wants power, just like everyone else. He just out-thinks and out-wits everyone. He plays the game of thrones like a game of chess. He understands his opponents and he always thinks 5+ steps ahead. The people who are with him would do well to lern everything they can from him, even if that will be his undoing.

+4 Internets | This. Tyrion is my favorite character. I just finished the part with lady Olenna (Queen of Thorns) and she quickly moved up into my top faves. We'll see about Littlefinger. I'll admit to being biased against him because he's against Tyrion. Also, so far he hasn't really done a lot, other than get Ned axed. Well... not done anything I know about. Is there any realistic timeline for when "Dance with Dragons" will be out? Or is it all just speculation at this point? |

+1 Internets | Sansa's wolf is dead. She's not going to end up some heroic yet machiavellian character fighting with Jon, Bran, Arya on the "Wolf Team!" Even ignoring that little nugget, all of her character development; weakness, naivete, abuse, betrayal, abuse, betrayal, abuse, betrayal, and a total lack of loyalty to anything but her own self-interests (excluding her stupid fairy tales, in which Littlefinger gets to play Prince Codpiece) makes it unlikely that she'll turn against Littlefinger especially after he gives her some power; she'll be his very willing pawn/partner. That is, unless he stupidly betrays her after she's learned his games of manipulation, but even then you won't see Sansa go running to her relatives who she never liked or had any loyalty to in the first place (at least the ones who are alive). I could see either the former or the latter happening. Although I wouldn't rule out Sansa turning out to be nothing pivotal. A lot of people are really tone deaf in regards to books. No, all your favorite characters are not gonna end up on the same side fighting off the others [sadface]. And Daenerys is really well on the road to becoming a true Targaryen (and doing the reverse of what the narrative did to Jaime/Hound), so a hot heroic Jon/Tyrion DP of her not likely in future. P.S. "What, Renly was GAY!?!?!" Last edited by Schatze : 03-26-2008 at 11:24 AM. |

+1 Internets | Depends upon the circumstances. Eddard only got fucked because he entered the game where honor is a weakness not a strength. Jon's circumstances could well put him in a situation where it's not a flaw. As well, there are some differences. How would Eddard have handled the wildlings? How has Jon handled them/will handle them? Eddard was made brittle by his adherence to his principles; I don't think Jon will suffer the same, but rather have some malleability. Ed would never have done what he had to do to get in the good graces of the wildlings; Jon did. Ed's honor seemed to be a personal thing; Jon's seems to be an impersonal service to a cause(s). He may well get the chop, but he's been set up as being pivotal to much of the rest of the story. Things can change, but I don't see him going anywhere anytime soon. In other news, I'll agree that Sansa isn't going to be turning around and betraying Littlefinger, however Dany just isn't going to be turning into an evil crazy bitch version of Aerys either. If anything Martin will continue the trend of Dany fucking things up by accident and she'll come over to screw up the war with the Others at a pivotal moment.
