Anansi Boys is an excellent book, but it's not a sequel to American Gods. It deals with a completely different mythology and there's also a lot more of Gaiman's humor (Neverwhere / Stardust style) in it.

Remember Mr. Nancy from American Gods? Anansi Boys is the story of his children. It just expands on certain elements that were only touched on or left out of American Gods.

Yeah, I guess "sequel" isn't exactly the best word. More of a spin-off.

I didn't like American God's as much as Neverwhere, but it was still a good read. Gaiman is a unique writer, look forward to reading more from him.

I've been wondering - if this turns to be a movie, imo, the guy who is the convicted brother from Prison Break (not the "smart" and thin guy) really fits how I see Shadow should appear.

there is a Neverwhere movie that was on BBC. It's... it's very 80s, it isn't bad really, and kind of fits how I pictured the story, just very "BBC" production values.

Good Omens had also been optioned but appears to be lost in limbo. IMO that's the one that had the best shot at making a decent movie.

Just finished it. Wish there was a thread here with spoilers.

It was worth the time spent. Definitely a good and somewhat interesting read. Can prolly agree with the anticlimatic thing, although no biggie. Plot was okay, I like his sense of humor and general style of presentation, good characters or just character if you could put it that way. Still got some questions left, hence the request for a spoiler thread. But no biggie.

I read American Gods a couple months ago and really enjoyed all the mythology stuff in the book. Such a fantastical theme in the book but from the main character and writing style you can get that feeling sometimes that wow this could really happen. Very down to earth every day man feeling to it imo.
I just finished Good Omens (awesome book, enjoyed it more than American Gods) and just started reading Neverwhere this morning and have Anansi Boys waiting for when I finish that. Really looking forward to going through these books after reading American Gods and Good Omens.

Don't forget to pick up Stardust too. It's up there with Neverwhere, and the Matt Vaughn movie version of it is due out next summer.

Same goes for the Sandman graphic novels, even for people who'd normally never read a comic book.

Stardust is really good, there is a graphic novel as well. I vaguely remember reading the graphic novel so I picked up the book, it's really cool

Oh yah Stardust is on the list too just forgot about it. Checked Amazon.com for a review and it's compared to The Princess Bride and Neverending Story. If that's even remotely true I'm sure I'll love it.

Read it on the plane and really enjoyed it. Kept wondering how he was going to finish it in the remaining pages but did a good job of wrapping it all up in the end. Was really happy he came back to the missing children subplot, was very entertaining.

I loved Good Omens, but wasn't very fond of this book. It started out great but really started to just get all blah on me (sorry that's the only way I can think to say it).

Stardust was a great book. The movie that came out was pretty good too. If you liked the book, but aren't one of those book to movie nazis, then see it. It did remind me of a cross between The Princess Bride and MP and the Holy Grail with a little bit of classic Disney Sword and the Stone.
