. My father recently <2 years ago> purchased a 50 year old fencing company, one that over the years has fallen from the biggest/best in the city to the middling/lower levels. They are of the mindset that you speak of, not negotiating prices, being obscure about the pricing etc. I'm curious, what do you do in today's market that is closing 50-75% of your business? A clearly transparent bid layout? Price matching? I'm going to be selling for his company in the coming months, and have a few ideas in mind. Hell, starting a web page has lead to over 35k in business since I posted this winter. I feel like there are opportunities out there in the residential market they are failing to get, along with most the other companies in the area, as they are all mostly "old school".
