Chrome Extensions

Google chrome now supports extensions with the latest update. What are some of the must haves that people are using? There are so many I feel like I might be missing out on some kick ass ones.

I made sure to get the EI tap extension because of microsoft being gay on some of their sites.

I hope extensions work better than they did in the dev channel. I made a simple extension that added a specific address to a url to localize it to my campus library and the shit caused chrome to chain crash after an automatic update (yeah yeah I know "beta"). Edit: hooray it no longer crashes.

Looking forward to noscript being ported to chrome.

Google mail checker sucks. The only time it actually knows how many emails I have is when I have gmail open in a window.

I like quicksearch and forecastfox

Huh? That doesn't sound right. It checks every 15secs for me and usually gets it before it's pushed to the iPhone (push notification). Even if I'm not logged in.

Do you have "always use SSL" selected? I have it on, and set Gmail to always use SSL, too.

I thought this thread was going to be about black people with chrome hair extensions.

Thread failed to deliver.

I switched to the "plus" version and that one seems to be working.

So, I'm using AdBlock, Google Mail/Voice, Xmarks, and slinky. 6 tabs open most of today, and my memory usage has been hovering between 415 and 475 MB. Is this normal for Chrome?

I know Firefox eventually gets this high, does Chrome have memory leak problems too? I would like to keep it, it's definitely faster and the google mail/voice addons are much better than the firefox versions. But I thought the browser would be better on memory initially.

I have adthwart/woot! and four tabs open right now and it's around 230mb. Maybe the plugins you got are written poorly?

about:memory

Type this in your Chrome browser to see what sucks up RAM. Shift + Esc gets you a less detailed snapshot.

That invisible hand is pretty nice. It seems to get confused a lot but still really useful.
