He deserves to be put in a pit and beaten like a dog. that aside california is in a deep ass hole of debt, i doubt its residents will love how the state spent millions of their dollars to bring in a 76 yr old man who committed a non lethal crime 32 years ago against a single person.

when active criminals are being released from prison without serving their sentence because they dont have the resources to hold them, this whole thing becomes a complete farce.

make Polanski pay a big fine, have him serve some time in a swiss jail or something, have him direct a vince neil style public service announcement about horny frenchmen who lust after jailbait, but jesus christ stop wasting time on this ridiculous process.
even if they extradite him and put him in an american jail, in the long run they will still have accomplished nothing.

I don't really know the details, never did care. But I have to wonder, why are so many people so dismissive of this? Assuming he actually raped this chick... everyone just seems cool with it. His fellow directors are organizing a "We are the World" telethon or something for him to get him freed, it's weird.

Because underage people with dreams of being models in show biz are exploited every day. The mother left her 13 year daughter with a stranger overnight. It's a unfortunate incident, Polanski was wrong but I'm not losing any sleep over it.

There are countries all over the world right now where 13 year olds are sold into the sex trade, used and frequently killed by tourists. Places where entire villages are pillaged and every girl they catch is raped and killed in front of their dead parents. Kids who would have gladly worshiped Polanski cock the rest of their natural lives if it gave them a chance to get away from their dismal situations.

If it makes me a bad person for not giving a shit about some young girl with stars in her eyes left by her mother for a private session with some crazy haired director known best for his movie about Satan worship and birthing a demon I guess that makes me bad.

The guy made a mistake, one time in his life after facing the horrors of Nazi occupation and the recent murder of his 9 month pregnant wife by the fucking Mansons. Polanski has taken it a lot worse than he gave it, that's not suppose to be an excuse for his actions but who are you to say that? The amount of good he has done far outweighs this one incident, even the victim says she doesn't care anymore.

This pristine world of divine justice you people think you live in is hilarious. It's "out of sight, out of mind" to the extreme...unless you have Nancy Grace shoving it in your face it isn't real enough to be worth your time. You grasp for these media proclaimed "legitimate monuments to release outrage upon" and think you're a good person because you "care". It's sick.

No, the victim says she wants it to be done with. I highly doubt she doesn't care about being left alone with him, then drugged and raped.

Thirty years post incident of being a highly productive citizen who won multiple high level film awards, a boon to any film industry where worked, without any other criminal events recorded despite being under constant media scrutiny. Sounds about right to me. Pretty sure this guy doesn't need rehabilitation.

Seems the only ones relevant to this whole affair who still give a shit is the US legal system. They are just butt hurt and hung up on fact their mark got away and was thriving out of their reach.
