My guess is that when you are in Baltimore or in DC, you know teenage prostitution will be there. So instead of being outraged and scream at the horror of that fact, you can accept it is there and try to make sure the girls have proper shelter and schooling.

These guys deal every single day with poverty, drug, crime, etc and try to assist people to make their life better (it's not like they asked for a cut on the opperation!), so I guess I find it pretty hard from the comfort of my home, in a city almost devoid of violent crime, thousands of kilometers away, to judge them out of a video clip made by tricksters with an agenda.

Child exploitation should never be a ho hum issue. Ignoring that issue as it was brought up was flat out wrong. Thats the issue that is justifiably raised. But to say "see here look how bad acorn is" is disingenuous. These people are not good people. But to say its based on their party affiliation or employer is quite a stretch. Its just as likely the woman had no problems with child prostitution because she is a tax attorney. Pretty silly statement isn't it.

But how many offices of theirs do you need to find offering this kind of assistance before you're willing to entertain the idea that it might be systemic within the organization? (As they apparently pulled this off at both the Baltimore and DC branches...)

One day after two ACORN officials in Baltimore were fired for offering to help a man and woman posing as a pimp and prostitute to engage in child prostitution and a series of tax crimes, another secretly shot videotape has surfaced that shows the same couple getting similar advice from ACORN officers in Washington.

The newly released videotape, shot on July 25, shows ACORN staffers explaining to the pair how they can hide the woman's professed work — prostitution — and get a loan that will help them establish a brothel.

James O'Keefe, a 25-year-old independent filmmaker, posed as the pimp while visiting the ACORN office, accompanied by 20-year-old Hannah Giles, who posed as the prostitute. On a videotape provided to FOXNews.com, they are seen receiving guidance to establish the woman as the sole proprietor of a bogus company to mask the nature of her business.

"She's not going to put on (the loan application) that she's doing prostitution ... she doesn't have to," the ACORN staffer says. "You don't have to sit back and tell people what you do."

The ACORN staffer is heard suggesting that O'Keefe can purchase a house, and as the landlord, if he is ever questioned by authorities, he can say he was unaware of the illegal business going on inside.

"[W]hen the police ask you, (tell them) you don't know where (the money is) coming from," the staffer said. "We are looking out for you."

The ACORN employee later suggests that O'Keefe, who said he had a budding political career, not linger at the house in case people "put the dots together" and leave him "smeared and tarnished" by his association with his prostitute girlfriend. She should keep her business "low key," the employee continued, saying "You have neighbors and they see stuff. Don't think that people won't get on the telephone and call Fox."

An ACORN spokesman told FOX News the group would need to look at the full tape and transcript before commenting.

One day before the Washington video was shot, O'Keefe and Giles sought help from ACORN workers in Baltimore, who told the pair how to falsify tax forms and seek illegal benefits for 13 "very young" girls from El Salvador that they said they said they wanted to import as prostitutes.

As he did in the taping in Baltimore, O'Keefe told the Washington officers that he had plans to bring as many as 10 women from El Salvador to work as prostitutes in Giles' "business."

"There's like 10 girls," O'Keefe says. "There's ten El Salvodoreans."

The ACORN staffer replies, "I understand what you are saying."

ACORN — the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — calls itself a network of families "working together for social justice and stronger communities," according to its Web site.

The organization has been accused by conservatives and Republicans of committing fraud in voter registration drives around the country, and reaction to the videotape came swiftly after its release on Thursday.

"Taxpayers should be outraged that their money has gone to an organization that, in addition to facing charges of voter fraud and tax violations, is willing to facilitate prostitution," said Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.

"As this video confirms, ACORN continues to operate as a criminal enterprise."

The first videotape, made in the Baltimore offices of ACORN, was made public Thursday on the political blog BigGovernment.com. That night, after portions of the video were aired throughout the day on FOX News, the group fired the two women who assisted O'Keefe and Giles in Baltimore.

More than 2. How many military people arrested on felonies before we entertain the idea its systemic? How many republicans running on moral platforms arrested on immoral failings before we find it systemic. Moral platform= fail? Personally i dont think so.

Seriously, find a memo or get someone from the top. Enron didn't crash because 4 lowly accountants were trying to find tax breaks for prostitutes. These 2 branches if you want to call it that have idiots running them. That doesn't mean the entire organization needs to be vilified.

But it I don't see it having legs. ACORN just isnt that big of a deal. ACORN can be exoriated for really bad hiring practices, obviously. Comically bad.

But in the end it doesn't really serve the conservatives purpose of A. Creating ACORN into a diabolical threat and B. Connecting it to Obama.

FOX News watchers will care, and itll be the lead story there for a week. But thats about it. Especially if Brietbart, who is an attention whore, starts getting on and turns it all into a circus thats all about him.

Even as I type this it isnt even on the front page of CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, Politico, or even the banner/siren/above the fold on Drudge. Fox are the only ones really pushing it.. but so far nobody else really cares. Bad timing to release it between all the Health Care news and 9/11 stuff.

I don't know about the US, but it was/is occuring throughout Switzerland. Until earlier this year, prostitution wasn't specifically regulated, so 16 year olds could (and did) work in brothels. That was now outlawed, which means they move out of brothels to the street, where I think it was more common anyway. The term 'designer prostitution' was used by the press. Basically, girls (usually middle class, not poor) prostitute themselves occasionally in order to buy designer clothes or accessories - but don't do it as a regular job. I suppose that was never suited for brothels anyway, since that is more open and they probably don't want others in their school to know... plus, it's also more regular employment.

No data available to figure out what impact it has. It's quite obviously different than forced prostitution or anything of that sort.
