+1 Internets | Must-have gadgets I was going through a sporting goods store today and wound up looking through the camping gear to kill time. One thing I saw that I'd been meaning to get for a long time was a crank-powered flashlight that doesn't require batteries. Every time I actually need a flashlight, the damn batteries are always dead, so it seemed like a good thing to get. I was going to grab the one there for $15, but then decided to wait and see what I could find online. I looked around and wound up buying a $10 flashlight off of Amazon (Amazon.com: Garrity Power Lite 3 LED Crank Light: Sports & Outdoors). After I bought that, the recommended items page brought up a bunch of cool things that I'd probably never use. I was tempted to buy a couple more items despite the fact that I'd never use them (magnesium flint?). To avoid throwing more things on my credit card this month, I decided to make this thread to discuss useful gadgets and avoid Amazon for the time being. What random gadgets/tools/etc do you think every person should have? Things like crank flashlights, pocket knives, basic tool sets, etc would be good examples. If you can post links to items, that'd be great as well. Last edited by Desidero; 09-05-2009 at 02:00 AM.. |

+167 Internets | Fuck I have to agree with Phoenix about something. These two tools are completely indispensable. I purchased a busted ass lawnmower and weedwacker off craigslist for $20.00 and managed to fix the both of them with only my leatherman in about an hour. The Dremel is more specific but I have used it from getting rust off bike and car parts, to just carving up pumpkins. Plus, my fucking name is engraved on EVERYTHING. If you do any serious camping/hiking/wilderness shit, I recommend a good GPS/radio. I got two of these for the times when I turn into Grizzly Man. Garmin Rino 530HCx GPS/Two-Way Radio at REI.com There are cheaper ones, but the thread title says "Must-have". |
