We've only scratched the tip of the Iceberg of what's out there in the Universe. Heck, we find new shit that shouldn't exist on Earth alot.

Did you read the article? If scientists admitting they don't understand how things work makes them wrong...it can't look well for many religions that admit the same thing about not knowing all the mysteries of god etc.

Obviously the limits and lack of human understanding proves the existence of a divine being that we could not possibly understand.

Makes perfect sense.

Well of course religions will lay claim to the unexplainable as proof of god. History is full of examples of this and that's their whole con job, but eventually science finds out the truth.

Man, lotta dumb here.

There was an article awhile back about scientists finding a supernova, which was pretty cool, except for the fact that the star should have been way too young to go supernova.

The logical conclusion from that article? Maybe we don't fucking know what we think we know.

The illogical conclusion from that article, and this one? HOLY SHIT SUPER BEINGS DID IT.

Step 1: Find something that our current understanding of science doesn't explain

Step 2: Assume a magical wizard in the sky did it

Yup, no flaws in that thought process at all.

2) It is behaving in odd ways that suggest maybe it is not 1 million years from being destroyed, therefore increasing the chance (not-so-rare) that we would see it.

The second issue being the more important one since it means our current models of how planets and stars interact might be wrong. That is the thing about science: we admit it can be wrong and replace invalidated theories with better ones when new data presents itself.

We don't suddenly jump to the conclusion that the universe is somehow younger than we thought. We have other, more common, observations that support our current model of the age of the universe. This hot jupiter observation does not disprove it.
The age of the universe? What is the age of "everything?" My hunch, and I'm really going out on a limb here, is that everything must have always been there. There can be no origin event.
