It's a semantics issue, since we've only declared war 5 times and clearly we've been involved in plenty of other armed conflicts. I just wanted to point out that no, GWB wasn't a wartime President. A warmongering President absolutely, but nothing more. The actual wartime Presidents are a pretty exclusive club, there's only six.

Did he see active duty/combat?

Because again, that was your metric.

commanders and generals rarely see combat as commanders. they of course may have as soldiers but when commanding troops you stay in the rear so as not to be killed.

see what I did there?

Your metric was "kennedy was a pussy/doesn't deserve to be buried at Arlington because he never saw active duty combat" same rules apply to GWB. Period.

Bottom line, seeing combat is not a requirement and the rules don't give a shit what your opinion of them is.

You just disgust me, everyone with this sentiment does. I'm so sick of it. No one denies that he fucked up in a truely tragic event 40ish years ago, but he has done a lot since then and the man they buried was a different man from the drunk in that car accident decades ago.

Teddy Kennedy has served the people of Massachussets and this country well for decades. He served as a champion to people who were poor, a minority or gay to try and give them a better life in this country. He has worked for health care for everyone and was probably one of the strongest public servants in this country in years. He went to great lengths to help people and has positivley touched more lives than anyone can say.

But I know many of you hate gays, minorities and poor people and to which "liberal" is a bad word and anything from Massachussetts should be reviled, and can't see past that so try to shit on a man that did so much good for so many.

Your myopic hate is pathetic.

I think Astrocreep is just angry that he'll never do anything notable enough for people to create angry threads on messageboards about him when he dies.
