I've never seen someone pulled over for doing 10 below in the left lane?
Well, it has happened to me. I was slightly buzzed coming back from a club in Providence, but instead of driving like an asshole, I was driving like an old woman, but in the left lane. I guess a statie was trying to use the lane to pass, but I was just chillin doin like 50 in the high speed lane(dont know why). He yanked me and yelled at me, then asked me If I was drunk, and I said no. Then he looked at me with the flashlight and said to get the fuck out of there and next time get the fuck out of the lane if a cop is trying to pass.

So yeah.

Yeah they need to do mandatory re-testing for renewals. Its ridiculous how easy it is to get a fucking license in CA - and its no surprise we have some shit shit drivers.

That and driving school needs to be more about how to be a good driver and not just about the laws - things like using the passing lane to actually pass, how to properly merge without needing to stop in the middle of a highway...

Also, the entire defensive driving crap is bullshit. You can be all defensive if you want - if some guy wants to hit you, he's going to hit you. You need to be a lot more proactive in driving - like what I said with merging, you can sit there and wait til enough room opens up for your slow ass to merge or you can actually take initiative and speed up and merge by actually actively thinking

And I'm all for tighter control of seniors driving - every year in CA it seems like some senior gets a seizure and plows through a crowd of people at a market or store killing a bunch of people.

Cops should do that more, Ive seen some real left lane warriors just camp out infront of an officer in the leftlane, and you can tell its one of those cops that just like to speed as they please (without siren lights on) and those are the ones I wouldnt want to cockblock in the leftlane, man do they get on your ass but usually they just pass you but they sit on your ass for a long time, im always surprised they dont pull him over

I get more pissed off at people who ride your ass for a mile when your in the center-right lane of a 4 lane highway and then finally decide to pass you on the right when the two lanes to the left of you have been wide open the entire time. I guess this is because lately I've started to drive only 10 over instead of 20-25 like everyone else in Chicago

God damn if I don't hate left lane drivers on I-45.

What I hate worse is the people who DO NOT LOOK before changing lanes.

I'm going 95. You change lanes, causing me to slow down to below 70, and I'm stuck behind you for the 10+ seconds it takes you to pass the person, up to several minutes if you cockblock me into traffic.

You have to be mortally fucking stupid if you see someone zooming up in your mirror and cut them off for chuckles, so I can only assume they just don't fucking look.

And god damnit if you are going the same speed as the car on your left and the car on your right, slow down or preferably speed the fuck up! It's amazing to my brain when a five lane segment of highway is blocked by five motherfuckers going the same goddamn speed. And then for no reason at all somebody wakes up and accelerates 10-15 mph after fucking everyone over for 5 minutes.

Argh. And then there's the 'law abiding christian suv drivers' with the 'keep the change' bumper stickers who refuse to speed in suburban areas, until the light turns yellow! Then they floor it, run the red, and leave you sitting at the light saluting them in their rear view. Fuck.

I view driving fast as being far safer than driving slow, because it keeps you from getting stuck in a pack, where people get frustrated and aggressive, and if you're moving faster than traffic, you only have to worry about vehicles in front of you most of the time, instead of having 360 degree threats from people trying to cut you off, especially when they don't signal.

After receiving a speeding ticket a couple months ago in a particular county I now sit in the left lane and do the interstate speed limit of 55. I can usually find someone going about the same speed and just cruise with them through the entire county. It's hard to tell how far I back up traffic but looking in my rear view mirror it's usually pretty bad.

Hows it feel to be universally hated by every single person on the road?

I've been pulled over 12ish times... been given speeding tickets 4 times, maybe a couple warnings.

I live in Oregon and have drivin into Washington maybe 3-4 times and ticketed twice within an hour of the border. I freaking hate Washington cops. I am 100% convinced that out of state plates get targeted more than in state plates. One of my other tickets was in California... only one in Oregon where I have done 99.99% of my driving and 99.999% of my speeding.

My worst ticket was just over the border into Washington, going with the flow of traffic maybe 10mph over the limit and a dick cop writes me up for 3 offenses including "unsafe lane travel", whatever that is. He said he was pacing me but then wrote on the ticket that it was radar... and the ticket had a big stamp on it that said that he had the whole thing on dash-cam video basically. I think the total ticket was for about 400 bucks. Right when I got back home I emailed a lawyer in Washington and cut them a check for 700$ to go appear in court for me and fight the ticket. She claims she's never lost a case in that particular county.

3 emails, 700 bucks and a week later I got a letter from the lawyer saying she got my ticket erased.

Worth it.

By that point I would have rather had 5 grand go to a slimy lawyer than 10 cents go to whatever corrupt system wrote me that ticket.

In the last 5 years I've changed cars (from fast-looking car to SUV), speed just as much as I ever have, and haven't been pulled over once.

Yeah the car you drive matters a lot too.

Driving to Vegas in a Mercedes, I was speeding along quite nicely with a radar detector. A cop is up ahead and he goes ahead and pulls over the Honda Civic with an obviously aftermarket exhaust over despite the Civic being in the slow lane.

My best ticket was when I was driving home from a blind date, thx myspace. Her pics were very nice, her voice was even better; however, in person she was 250 lbs easy. So there I was, gluttony at first sight and I thought about just leaving right when she came outside. But she offered to cook me dinner and after some time pondering to myself I figured a fat chick would cook a decent meal. The meal was great, so I ate and then started my hour drive back home. I wanted to get home with the quickness so I could fap it to some good looking girls getting railed by little cocks. I turn off onto a back road where it was a 60 zone and started doing about 90ish. To my luck there was a cop siting behind a sign or something and pulled me over. Got me doing 88 and I had to go to a drivers safety course (fml).

So there is my noob fail experiment with myspace blind dating. Never again... Well, it will probably happen again.

One of my biggest pet peeves by far. The concept is pretty simple, you would think: you have to "merge" in to the flow of traffic. So as you're driving down the on-ramp, perhaps it would be a good idea to match your speed with the flow of traffic, and look for an opening, yes? For most people, that's far too difficult. Instead, they will travel down the on-ramp at the same speed of the road they exited (so chances are, significantly slower than the speed they should be going), not looking to see openings in traffic, because that might make sense. Instead they'll putz along 10-20 below the limit, and once they've reached the very end of the on-ramp they'll either swerve into the flow of traffic causing everyone behind them to slam on their brakes, or they'll slam on their brakes and come to a stop on the side of the road.

It's really quite amazing how difficult of a task merging is for the average human being. I had this happen to me yesterday. I was driving a large white cube van, you can see me for a mile. I'm driving in the right hand lane on a three lane road because a) I'm doing exactly the speed limit of 90km/h and b) I'm taking the next exit, which pretty much starts as soon as the merge lane from the previous entrance ends. I see three or four cars coming down the ramp ahead of me, and sure enough the lead car is doing maybe 60. The cars behind him are tailgating the shit out of him, they're pissed as well. By the time the merge lane "opens" on to my lane, the first car is 50 feet up, the second car's rear bumper is barely in front of mine, and the other cars had wisely slowed down on the ramp, then sped up once I was past so they could merge. So the first car signals and changes into my lane, quickly followed by the second car. The first car then inexplicably slams on their brakes, cause the second car to as well, which has just changed in to my lane maybe 10 feet in front of me. Thankfully I was paying attention and by that time had slowed to about 70, and had started braking before the second car did.

Unsurprisingly the first car as a Sunfire, which I believe to be on average the worst driven car in existence (save for Buick, Lincoln and Oldsmobile).

Driving through Washington and Idaho to get home after attending Sasquatch a few years back, I was absolutely stunned to see how many state troopers there were. Every fucking bush and billboard had a statey hiding behind it. And naturally my car's speedo was only in km/h (dude, what's 70 times 1.6?). I didn't get pulled over, but another friend did, just outside the concert grounds. Best part was, the first day we'd drawn a giant cock with mustard, relish and ketchup on his hood. Either the cop didn't notice, or she pretended not to.

Yes. They were cited for impeding the flow of traffic. They wolfpacked it all the way around I-285 at exactly 55 miles per hour and backed up traffic all over the city. It's a beltway around the city, so they basically managed to back up 3 other major interstates.

I-285 is a fucking death trap. I never, ever take 285 unless it's absolutely necessary (such as going to get pho over in little cambodia on the northwest side). The road never gets any maintenance because it's so jam packed they can't shut lanes down, so it's like something out of the Road Warrior. If you're not going at least 70, you're getting passed. Then it turns into fucking gridlock during rush hour. God help anyone on a bike, they're just taking their life into their own hands.

You do this every day and you will easily change the speed limit within a few weeks :P

It is some form of protest. I would protest such a speed limit. 55 wtf.
That is what we are driving at in cities.
