| I know... why even bothering questioning it really, but holy shit! I just can't fathom that out there they're thousands of potential Apple customers who have suddenly been swayed to a PC because WOWZOR an Apple cost MORE!! Who KNEW!?!?! I have to say I'm pretty disappointed! After seeing that Apple's lawyer called Microsoft I was expecting some good bashing on the Apple and those commercials were a BIG LET DOWN! |

| To be honest though, I'd have a macbook by now if they didn't cost so much more than an equivalent from dell or something like that, I think apple is hurting themselves more than helping with their high exclusivity prices.

+4 Internets | The entire pricing system is fucked up, and if they continue to lower their prices on macbooks etc then other prices must come down. An App costs like 349$ ? On a macbook, if they lowered the prices on the books themselves, who would pay 50% of the cost on a shitty warranty? A Lot of that shit is insane though, I wanted an armband for my iPod Classic a while back. Apple model, 59$, walmart model? 19$. I dunno how anyone justifies those prices (Btw, I got the classic as a refurb, so not a complete shill). |

| A Bearded Gnome | Yeah, the only reason I don't have a Mac is because of the price. Those 1k Macs would be $400-500 PC's if they had windows and was made by Dell/HP/etc is just too hard to take the plunge on. The shit is just so overpriced.

| I can mimick the above; my gf REALLY wants a mac to play with but after she looked at the price tag she said "cant i get a dell for like 400 bucks with the same hardware?". I loled, but I really want her to get one so i can play eqmac! |

| Also, there are a lot of people who buy into the "If you're doing multimedia, or really 'creative work' then you have to get a Mac". These ads are probably targeting that demographic. They aren't trying to convert the hardcore Apple fans, they're targeting the "straddling the fence" crowd. If anything the ads are a far less smug version of "I'm a mac, I'm a PC" ads. |

| Assuming this is true, does Mac really have any ground to stand on when it comes to criticizing ads? The "I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" ads are some of the most pretentious shit you will find.

| tbh if my competitor was two leagues above me in price, I would keep pushing that angle forever. Is it the only thing the PCs really have for them? I think so, having used my sisters macbook thing for a short time. Well, gaming too, but that is not really what I want on a notebook to begin with. |

| One of the funny things is that if Apple finds a way to drop the price of Macbooks into the range that makes the competitive with the incoming flood of cheaper notebooks ($400-$600) then they hit another dilemma... At that point the MacBook will cost around the same as a top end iPhone. Confused even more with the fact that the next supposed product out of Apple will be a touch based "netbook" device supposed to straddle the space between the iPhone and the MacBook... |

I own 2 high end Mac desktops and one Power book as well as 3 high end desktops and my work HP laptop. The only reason I have the Mac's is for Final Cut Pro and a couple other multimedia programs that are exclusive to the Mac. If they were offered on the PC, I would not own one. I got in a huge argument with a couple ignorant friends of mine who have bought into the whole "TEH RUN DA PHOTOCHOPS FASTER" series of bullshit and even after proving them horribly, horribly wrong (ran a high end lens blur on an IMAX resolution image and the PC was about 30% faster at comparable hardware) they still refused to believe it. Their next defense was "DERE IZ NO VIRUS OR SPYWARZ ON MAC LAWL!". Yeah dipshit because no one cares. Once little trendy Mac gains enough market share you are going to have the exact same problems that PC's do. So good job spreading the word Jobs. The ONLY reason I can see recommending any Apple computer product over a PC is if the person is an absolute lazy ass moron that doesn't want to take the 30 seconds a day it takes to maintain a piece of equipment. | |
