| Since it's designed as a flexible scale where 100 should always be the middle point of the bell curve I would say so. I don't give a lot of credence to IQ tests because rather than telling a persons real intellectual capacity they're usually more bent towards the specifics of reasoning and don't encapsulate a properly diverse measurement of total intellect. That said I know people who couldn't figure out how to make microwave popcorn if the instructions weren't on the bag. But can sit down and write code with an almost "stream of consciousness" speed. |

| So I'm trying to share some folders on my win7 machine w/ my xp machine. I can see the folders in xp so I'm guessing I'm connected correctly but every time I go to open the folders I get a not authorized message. The folders are set to share via the little check box so what am I missing here? |

Windows 7 is very network protective in terms of seeing shares.

+7 Internets | What also works is: *Make a new account on your 7 machine. Name it "xpshares" or whatever. *From your main user account, right click the folder you want to share and go to Share With > Specific People. *Add the new user from the pulldown, click add, change permission level to read/write if you need, then click share. On your XP machine, when you try to access the shared folder, you'll be asked to provide login details. Enter your new user and password. You'll just need to enter them this one time as you can check the box to autologin thereafter). Multiple XP machines can use the same account btw. You leave on password protected sharing this way, which means it's more secure because if anyone gets on your network somehow, they still can't access your files. If you use wireless or take your computer anywhere I would definitely recommend setting it up this way. It's a bit of work setting it up but I have had zero issues this way, using 3 XP machines and one on windows 7.

| Just right click the folder you want to share and then select specific people. Select everyone from the drop down menu, add them, and then select share. Then open the command prompt and run ipconfig. Go to the Windows xp computer and go to run then type in \\ipaddress of windows 7 computer so something like \\192.168.1.105 or whatever. The file share should pop up and there you go. |

+14 Internets | Friend a few weeks ago got Windows 7, with an .edu email, for 30 bucks. They emailed him the product key, could download the installation .iso from the site, boom, done. Windows 7 US Online Store - Student Registration Unfortunately, that promo has ended. I can get a copy of W7 Pro for 30 bucks through the .edu account as well, but does anyone else have a cheap, digital download, site for W7? |

I just built a new system and installed the other copy clean and it runs perfectly. As it has been said many times before in this thread, clean install is the way to go. Clean Install Windows 7 With Upgrade

+7 Internets | May be a retarded question but I never really thought of it before. What are the benefits of running 64-bit over 32-bit? I have a 64-bit processor, but just curious about what the difference in terms of running Windows 7 will be? |

Drivers are the main concern. However, Windows 7 is fairing much better than previous 64 bit OS's.

| I think MS has found that leaving a way for pirates, students, and other people with a little ingenuity to get Win7 for <50$ is finding that much more profitable then watching everyone pirate the hell out of it. I'm not saying people aren't pirating the hell out of it but the vibe I get from people who often pirate is "Hey look I found Win7 legitimately for only $xx bucks!"
