Holy fuck this is the most awesome app ever. Being able to friend up with people and stream music from your computer when it's on is pure AWESOME!

My computer isn't on 100% of the time (but is mostly during the day) - Anyone interested in "friending" up to share out some music? I'm not 100% sure how exactly it goes, but I'm likely going to be testing it with a friend who just got a 3G S as well.

On a sidenote - Cydia is charging for the new NES 3 emulator? Have they always done that, or is that a "new" feature? My understanding that the jailbroken apps were mostly out there for free for people.

Three so far that I check the most and consider must haves-

Facebook app- This one is a must if you have a facebook page. Easy to use interface where you can easily browse friends' new photos, status updates, and notifications.

Byline- Absolute must for anyone. RSS feed app which you can sync and browse your google reader feeds. The folders you set up on google reader are shown on the main page of byline, so you easily know what folders are updated. I have a shitload of feeds I follow, all ranging from nutrition, to news, to gaming, to whatever else interests me from my favorite sites. I check this all the time in my free time, and don't even really need any other news apps anymore.

Remote- Just discovered this one today. Use your iphone to control itunes on your computer. Great at parties, or on the other spectrum, great for WoW (or any other game for that matter) where I don't feel like minimizing out of the game or plugging my ipod into a wire through the computer's mic.

Better than the mobile version of reader.google.com?

I use Netnewswire for my iphone RSS reader. It syncs with the Feeddemon desktop reader for PC and the Mac desktop reader also named Netnewswire.

So is there an actual tethering app for the iPhones?

I'm so fucking frustrated that there isn't a good one I can find like for my G1. All you had to do was set up an SSID, set up WEP/WPA encryption if you desired and turn it on.

Bam, instant WAP with 3G speeds.

tethering

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Austrian blogger Benjamin Miller has posted a tethering workaround for the iPhone that will reportedly allow you to use the device to connect to the Web either via USB or Bluetooth.

To access, go to help.benm.at/help.php on your iPhone, and a mobile site created by Miller will pop up. Scroll down to "Tethering & Internet Settings" and click download. Select your country and then your provider and an install button will appear.

Once installed, return to the home page, and go to Settings > General > Network > Internet tethering. Turn on tethering and a pop-up window will let you choose between Bluetooth and USB only.

If you're using a USB, plug it into your Mac or PC and the computer will auto-detect the iPhone. Select your connection and you should be online.

Miller warns on the download page that users are installing the download at their own risk, and that they should check their data plans beforehand so as not to incur high overage charges. He also posted a link to a YouTube tutorial from a U.S.-based fan named Alex.

Broke down and "switched" to AT&T from Sprint and picked up a 3GS. Loving it so far and this is what I picked and and have used in the whopping 12 hours I've had it.

Facebook App
ESPN Scorecenter - Really cool though I havent tried others yet. Has the ESPN ticker running at the bottom.
TweetDeck
Yelp
Pandora
Drinks - Used it to make a Baja Margarita last night, pretty neat little bartender app that let's your sort by ingredients or drink names.

Im still looking for a decent NAV program. AT&T's got bashed pretty hard on iTunes, anyone have a heads up?

xGPS is supposed to be good. It may or may not require a jailbreak, though.

You do need to jailbreak for that.

There is a $79.99 app from Sygic on the app store I hear is good if you want to purchase something.

I feel like one of those mothers who don't bond right with a new baby. I have this love hate thing with my phone. I'm posting on it now, and have corrected a typo every other word. My fingers are relatively small, too. Also, when posting, there's no scroll (that I can see) within the post itself, so trying to quote then go to bottom of it to type seems impossible. Am I missing something?

I'm taking my fritzy phone to apple tomorrow. The left aide of phone frequently stops working and requires a reboot to work again. I've never dropped it and it's always in a case.

I also long for these fancy perks and I'm afraid of this jailbreaking business.

I feel like a cripple using this phone, basically. Can anyone help on the posting thing, or is that normal?

Ps: excuse any typos or grammatical errors.

When your typing do you stop and correct letters when you mis-type? If so, your doing it wrong. I had the same problem but I found that if you just fail through the words it auto corrects to the right word 90% of the time.

I went back to non-jailbreak status. The phone was just too damn slow.

As for typing, I didn't even try to do two handed typing. Zodiac is right about the auto correcting, too.

You get used to typing. My biggest problem is hitting the return button when I want to hit space bar. I never move my thumb far enough over to hit it.
