Is there a good app (or any app for that matter) that makes ringtones out of the music I have on my iPhone? When I right click to "Make Ringtone" on the song I want to use, I have to pay another .99 cents to make the 15 second ringtone...

Wolfen, dont hate. I honestly tried... I've spent a while looking for the answer to this question, and have found programs for Macs, apps that are no longer available and other random stuff that doesnt work.

The answer, as seen in my Google, is that you can do it in iTunes. I do it all the time.

This is what I use, Dice: iRinger :: iPhone Ringtone Factory [iPhone Ringtone, iPhone Ringtones, iPhone Ringtone Maker, iPhone Ringtone Creator]

It's free (supported by ads) and extremely easy to use. It satisfies my needs for ringtone creation. Give it a look.

This takes just a few minutes to do (it's how I make mine - I copy mine to Desktop and change them from there):

How to Make Custom iPhone Ringtones for Free | eHow.com

Extra note for Vista users:
Quote:
In order to change the file extension in Vista you will have to perform the following steps. This was performed on Vista Home Premium w/ SP2 & iTunes 8.2.0.23.

1) Open the folder where ringtone is saved.
2) Click on the help icon (?) in the upper right hand corner of the window.
3) Type "Folder Options" in the search box and press enter.
4) Click on option 1 "Change folder views and behavior".
5) Click on the link "Click to open Folder Options".
6) Click on the view tab.
7) Uncheck the box next to "Hide extensions for known file types" and press ok.
8)You should now see the file extension. Rename the file to end with ".m4r".
9) Double click and itunes does the rest.
Tip: Remove all song information like the artist, album, etc. Keep it short and sweet, I used Freur's Doot Doot for someone (inside joke) and removed all information and named it "Doot". It can get quirky if the name is long.

Yikes Rav, if that's the trouble you are going through, I encourage you to give iRinger a try. The only difference that I can remember is iRinger ringtunes are limited to 30s, vs. 40s for your method. You can also apply some effects and fade-ins/outs if you wish.

You can also look of Cydia to see if anyone made a ringtone for a song you like already. You just download it and you're done. I found the robo theme from chrono trigger =D

I just donated a few bucks to the Stacks v3 developer for an alpha test and it's looking like it's going to be a must-have app once it's final. Pretty buggy right now but still nice.

It looks like the jailbreak is out for the 3GS. Joy!

iClarified - Apple News - GeoHot Releases iPhone 3GS Jailbreak

Edit: Just ran it on my 3GS. Worked like a charm.

If you have a 3GS, don't install Winterboard yet. The currently available jailbreak prevents it from working correctly and your Springboard crashes at boot until you uninstall it.

Anyone care to help me out a bit?

I downloaded SBSettings, but for some reason it's not giving me an icon or anything on my springboard. Is that by design and I'm just retarded?
