I think the whole Iranian thing was completely blown out of proportion. There is no way that many people in Iran want democracy and do not hate the "The Great Satan". The majority of the country is on the side of Ahmadinejad. Kill the infidels in the name of Allah.

When Fox News is pushing a story as hard as they were pushing this one it can only mean it is not really a story and Fox is using it for some type of Republican Propaganda agenda. This uprising was Iran's Tiananmen Square where a bunch of eggheads who want to listen to Lil' Wayne and drink beer started to protest. This was not like the 1979 revolution. The people of Iran want an oppressive Islamic government. The West can not understand that, however that is the will of the people.

Mideast peace is a noble concept but it is only a concept. It is simply not possible.
Normally I ignore you, but this made me have to just say it. You're an idiot.

Not over yet, maybe?

Quote:
TEHRAN (Reuters) – A pro-reform Iranian clerical group said on Sunday the outcome of last month's presidential vote was "invalid," even though Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has upheld the result.

In a sign of a deepening rift among Shi'ite clerics, the Assembly of Qom Seminary Scholars and Researchers also called for the release of Iranians arrested in protests after the hardline president was declared winner of the June 12 vote.

"Other candidates' complaints and strong evidence of vote-rigging were ignored ... peaceful protests by Iranians were violently oppressed ... dozens of Iranians were killed and hundreds were illegally arrested," said a statement published on the Assembly's website. "The outcome is invalid."

Qom is Iran's center of Shi'ite learning, about 80 miles south of Tehran. The assembly has little political influence but its statement is a significant act of defiance since Qom is the power base of the clerical establishment.

Maybe I missed the memo about these pseudo technical difficulties, I STILL can't call Iran! Have any of you others (all two of you) been able to call? I'm trying to call into Northern Iran if that makes any difference.

Sweet, now Wednesday will be "Beat student protesters in the street" day!

Iran students plan return to street protests | World news | The Observer

Referring to the Iranian date of the seizing of the US embassy in 1979, Mousavi said: "The 13th of Aban is a... rendezvous so we would remember anew that among us it is the people who are the leaders."

Iran's police chief, Ismail Ahmadi-Moghadam, has warned demonstrators to stay off the streets, but activists predict one of the biggest days of protest since the height of the green marches.
Quote:
Authorities have closed 235 schools in Kashan, in the province of Isfahan, until Saturday, ostensibly as the result of a swine flu scare, although no cases of the virus have been reported.
EDIT: You really have to hand it to them, they haven't forgotten or backed down, and many have been imprisoned for showing dissent since the past set of protests.

The Supreme leader already said questing the election is a crime, so expect the protesters to be treated as such.

I'm not sure that she still couldn't call, it now being 3 months after she posted that.

But I could be wrong.
