would you buy it?

So a guy in a United Power truck just came into my office with a load of "demo" equipment from a trade show that they're "writing off". He said if you buy the main generator for $4,475.00 you get all the rest of the stuff for "free"

1) Another generator
2) smaller generator
3) Air Compressor
4) Water pump
5) gas pressure washer

It's all contractor grade stuff and has little to no hours on each.

I cranked them all up to make sure they actually work, brand new stuff, 1 year warranty etc. Only reason I'm considering purchasing is to re-sell and make some cash to pay off a credit card. Only problem is, I don't really know anyone to sell it to. I'm in logistics so shipping isn't an issue, I could put it on craigslist or ebay and see how that goes.

I'd be putting it on the credit card that I'm trying to pay off, it's a gamble I know, but I think it could pan out.

So my question...would you buy it??? Thoughts/comments?

I just called Chris at 509-290-9909 and told him my company would buy it.

Thanks for the tip

This sounds like that scam where people try to sell you high-end home theater hardware outside of bestbuy. It was going into a luxury home but the owner canceled the order, so their boss told them to just sell there for cash, and YOU look like someone who appreciates a good home theater!

Ask em to open them up. That always makes for good times while they try and give you the bullshit about "ruining them" while you point at the 3 loose Philips heads poking out the side of the cheap particle board.

I knew a guy who did the speaker scam. He was a real dirtbag too. Was the perfect career for him.

There's a reason for the adage: If it sounds too good to be true, it likely is.

It's strange how the speaker scam comes back around every year or 2. In fact, I think it's due this year. I've been hit up personally twice, had multiple friends hit up, and one brother-inlaw who actually bought them =/

Unless you're in the business of selling equipment like this, no.

These people are in the business of selling equipment like this, and they're trying to sell it to you.

I agree. Unless you have extensive knowledge about this crap, who knows what could happen with it. Better off playing it safe, especially in an economy like this. If it backfires think of what would happen, that right there should give you a good answer.

Just look at the "bill of lading". 15,000 worth of equipment for 4,400. What does your common sense tell you.

agree with Tuco, unless you know the ins and outs of these things i wouldnt go near them. for all you know those machines could be illegal to use due to some new emission regulations and therefore obsolete and worthless. now if it was a bulldozer then id say go for it. even if you cant sell it how cool would it be to own your own bulldozer?

About a half mile from my house a farmer was selling a monstrous old school payloader last summer for 11,000. God I wanted that fucker.

I don't know, this seems like it could be a good deal. I'd buy it just to play it on the safe side.
