TIME.com managing editor Josh Tyrangiel says that Moot is no less deserving than previous title-holders Nintendo video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto (2007) and Korean pop star Rain (2006). "I would remind anyone who doubts the results that this is an Internet poll. Doubting the results is kind of the point."
I would definitely say he's more influential than Rain.

He's just not as known. Consider something like LOLCat meme...how many people know it came from 4chan? Us sure..but the average person who gets a cat with a caption in their email from their kids? Not a chance.

I guess you don't have to necessarily be well known in order to be influential.

It was a poll conducted on the internet? Naturally 4chan took over...

I see now. You're one of those people that looks for reasons to be offended. It must be frustrating to go through life like that.

I don't know if 4chan has influence as much as a bunch of fat virgins with nothing better to do than stuff a times poll

There's no way Time didn't do this knowing full well what would happen. According to that article, they approached moot to begin with.

edit: I read it wrong but still, just putting him on the list is enough.

Zombocom told me that it all started out when the folks that hang out on the random board of 4chan (sometimes known as /b/) became aware that Time.com had enlisted moot (the founder of 4chan) as one of the candidates in the Time.com 100 poll.

heh, every time I read about these 4chan things I just laugh. That's hilarious, the interview with the guy. Even if none of it's true, the chance that it might be is so funny.

Nowhere does it indicate that. Only that they conversed with him after the fact. Chances are they have no clue what's happened.
