+29 Internets | That's the edger I had. Maybe I just needed to work with it more, I tried it on my ceiling and got such bad results that I just went to the tape. When I paint my dining room/kitchen/entryway/hallway area I may end up trying it again. My hallway/entryway meets another hallway that leads to my dining room/kitchen and I'm planning on painting the hallway a kind of beige neutral color and I'm thinking maybe a non-harsh yellow color for the dining room and kitchen, with the transition on the corner where the 2 meet. |

+5 Internets | Also, a paint shield is a must. http://images.orgill.com/200x200/6476865.jpg As far as the edgers; you have to be careful about getting paint on the sides. You can't rush this stuff. Be patient. What it saves you from is having to stand on a ladder with a brush and a paint shield.

+79 Internets | Decided on all free hand small brush action for edges. Everywhere I look I get different results about what brand of paint and do you use primer or not. Walls are white and have not been touched since house was built, should we still use a primer? I am planning on just giving everything a good washing and no primer. So far Behr has the most problems even though it has some really good reviews, I mention this because we found the colors we like at home depot but they only have Behr paint. Plan to just match the colors elsewhere but unsure what brand to use, just too many mixed reviews out there. |

Behr is fucking garbage, I'll never use it again. There's a home depot right down the road from us, so the previous owners used it as well. Shit was peeling left and right, peels after I primed the walls, bubbling up in the kitchen, and overall looks like shit in every single room of the house. It comes off EXTREMELY easily with the tape (the area we didn't use Behr on was the magnetic/chalkboard paint, no issues at all there), and we had several people come over and paint, so I'm inclined to believe it's not operator error. The master bathroom had Behr in it when we started, we literally just started at one end of the fucking room and peeled every goddamned bit of paint off in the whole room. You could slide your hand between the paint and the wall and break off fist sized chunks. Priming is a pain in the ass, adds a lot of time to the process, but a 5 gallon bucket of Kilz is a pretty reasonable price, will do your entire house and adds a good bit of peace of mind to the ordeal. I figure it's worth it just to block whatever stains/odors/mildew there are, help with the adhesion, hopefully increase the lifespan of the paint, and cut down on the amount of coats you have to do for color changes. We've had to put on 2 coats in almost every room over the primer, I can't imagine trying to color change without it. If you're gonna do it, might as well do it right. +29 Internets | I used Behr as well, and I noticed the peeling off with the tape. I had to go over it with a razor in order to take the tape off, which added substantially to cleanup time. But I haven't seen any bubbling or anything like that. Aside from teh peeling with the tape, all of my paint looks good and it's been about a year with no issues. |

The tape thing alone is enough to make me never use it again. The touch up time is far too ridiculous. | |

| sherwin williams faggots paint is one of those get what you pay for things, and before you start bitching, realize what the extra 30 or 40 percent will having on your living for the next 5 or 10 years. Behr in my experience is a 3 coat shit pile of watered down dye when you say "hey asshole why isnt this paint painting" the response will be "you should have bought our primer".

+5 Internets | ft I have painted 2 houses (1200sqft for one; little over 2k for the other) and always used sherwin williams. Never had any problems with peeling paint while untaping, bubbling later, etc. Even did some washes in one room without issues. As far as Primer goes, if you are doing a bathroom I would use it. Particularly around the shower. It will help with the moisture. If the walls are already white else where and are not "patchy", then I wouldn't really worry about it. Killz is pretty nice though and will help make your primary coats go further.

+79 Internets | Ok so two rooms done with low VOC(No smell and drys in about an hour) Olympic paint. No primer and decided to tape, we like the white roof after much debate on look VS cost/time. So we also decided to leave the trim white as well. We used Duck brand painters tape and so far it was worth it to keep the major oops off the trim, after removal of the tape we found a bunch of spots that need touch up, it did not take paint with it but it did bleed. May not even switch from the Olympic paint as it worked great but we will figure that out soon. Before and after pictures some time Wednesday I think. Mistakes made: -Not enough paint for the first room, back to lowes we went. -Forgot a step ladder, sucked using a 12 foot ladder(a lot) in the first room. -Did not use the correct roller method(angle up then down) first coat was uneven as fuck but fixed with the second coat and now looks fantastic. -Did not clean paint trays properly, back to lowes we went. I did the second room in about half the time with the proper tools by myself after the wife helped me cut in. It was a learning experiance for sure, make a check list and make damm sure you have everything you need. Hell by extra supplies and just take them back if they go unused because even a Lowes, homedepot 10-15 mins away sucked ass. I also installed a dead bolt with guards and a super reinforced kick plate, previous lock installer really fucked up the wood behind the orginal plate so that took like 2 hours to get corrected, still may end up replacing the entire right side of the door frame at a later time. It looks like they used a drill bit and a hammer to make the hole where the dead bolt goes into the wall. The screws that held the orginal plate had maybe quarter inch of wood left to screw into. |

+5 Internets | +1 for tray liners. They are a must have. I try and still wash them to reuse, but it always happens you don't feel like washing shit. With the liners, you don't have to worry about your (more) expensive tray.

| Going to put up plastic sheeting on our screened in back porch so I can play beer pong without wearing gloves soon. My stepdad was all about putting pieces of cardboard around the edge where you put the nail in so it doesn't come loose in the wind as much. Any opinions on how necessary that is? I haven't messed with plastic sheeting ever. Winds do get pretty shitty here (Louisville KY) though so I'll probably do it either way. |
