Neither needs to work during the summer to keep bills paid (the proffessor travels and the middle school teacher has kids so she can hang out with them). More to the root of the subject, I would say that the person saying we should stop subsidizing farmers not growing crops is less about their "downtime" and more about the farmers who make more money from farming subsidies non-growing stuff than actually growing stuff. | |

+30 Internets | I'm making an assumption here, but I think you might also not like social security. If so, I like the future you're carving out. It's like Mad Max with walkers. Those that were able to save money survive until it runs out. Those who could not or did not -- screw 'em. My only beef is when their rotten corpses start stinking in the ditches beside the road, we'll probably have to pay someone to drag them away. (Not a government agency, mind you. That would be growing the government, and that's bad. No, I just mean individual property owners would have to hire someone. Which brings to mind a great idea for a movie short, where a rabid anti-government type gets his wish only to be foiled in the end by hordes of elderly who choose his property to die on, thereby causing the property owner to go broke having to pay someone to constantly haul off their mountain of carcasses. In the end he's wandering destitute and alone, looking only for a place to die where he might pass on his misery to others. It's very Grumpy Old Men meets Ghandi meets zombie hordes. I like it.) |

| Wife is a teacher, 2 options 1: 9month payments 2: 12month payments Med/Vision/Dental prices are only deducted during the 9 months - so summer your still covered but your done paying. Teachers need to get paied more as they have the lowest starting for their degree level and degree+ requirements - it has nothing to do with 9month pay vs 12. And if people QQ about teachers time off- by the time you end the school year you have about 2-3 weeks before you have to start your "work at home" shit to get ready then you are back 1-2 weeks before the kids- if you want some temp job inbetween its almost more work than its worth in getting behind on your at home teacher duties.

| Fuck that my fiancee stresses something awful during the school year. She's up and at school before your kids even wake up in the morning and she doesn't leave school till after your kids are at home. Then when she gets home shes grading papers for half the night. They fucking DESERVE that time off.

| Teachers also end up having to grade at home a lot. And they have to prepare lesson plans. Their prep periods usually aren't enough to get the lion's share of the work done. Some teachers don't work or do extra things over the summer, but if you want to get IB/AP/whatever certifications, that stuff is usually done in the summer months. |

| Being a teacher is super easy. All you have to do is be a really bad teacher. 1. Show up right at 8. 2. Pass out worksheets. 3. Have a student grade them. 4. Leave at 3. 5. ??? 6. Profit. |

| Yes a bad teacher would get away with that crap but that's no way to inspire your students. Also regurgitating the same tired old lessons if they aren't known to work is also pretty bad. Especially when you could tie them in to current events for a larger impact. Being a good teacher is seriously hard work. My fiancee deserves far more for the amount of effort she put in.
