+31 Internets | Those stupid fucks in Congress just decided to apply the housing credit to existing home owners. Yeah, that's gonna cut down on the vacancies... Sponsored by Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., a former real estate executive. Good job dude. |

You know that right? That it's not just a credit for people who already own a house??? | |

| Maybe the idea of their plan is to actually reduce medical costs, which in turn would make it possible for reductions in insurance costs, which in turn would let people who couldn't afford insurance before get it... I know, I'm probably crazy. The hole in their plan is coverage for those denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions , or dumped by insurance companies. I could imagine it would be far easier to get past to just extend medicaid to cover people with pre-existing conditions or who had been dumped for getting catastrophic illness the same way they dump people for being old. I don't know if they'd try to work that in. |

+5 Internets | The more current republican office holders talk, the more i think they are functionally retarded. Sometimes i don't mind twisting the knife when it comes to party lines, but this is seriously scary shit. I'm just sick of this, and I'm appalled. This is how the GOP plans to lower costs. This is the democrat version. Who wants to cut costs again? Your a fucking loon haus. Yea lets dump everyone with a pre-existing condition onto medicaid great fucking idea. Even better would be to put them on medicare. Make it an even bigger fucking money pit. Not only the old and dying, but all the young and dying people too! WTF why not put anyone who's borderline uninsurable into medicare. Fisherman, medicare. Loggers, roofers, Xgames athletes, all on medicare. Lets take as much risk away from private insurers as possible, great idea. I'm not too hot on singlepayer, but holy shit i'd take single payer over that gem any day. Holy fuck. The whole process of insurance is about spreading risk around. You want the government to take all the risk and let insurance corporations just collect premiums of only the healthiest americans. Jesus christ why not go single payer at that point? The question isn't if your going to get sick, its when. |

+3 Internets | I'm not sure about you guys, but this bothers me. It is the job of those in the legislative branch to write legislation. I trust a 1990 page bill more than a one-page alternative. At what point did we turn into a country that desires nothing more than for our legislators to not write law? They've spent a lot of time arguing over the bill's length; they are a fucking party, make 50 people read 20 pages each and you are DONE. Done. That's an hours worth of reading. How about it, GOP? I'm not saying it's a short bill, I'm saying it's a bullshit excuse when your job is to write laws to bitch about the length of laws. As a disclaimer, I don't trust the DP to make things supremely efficient either; if there's one thing I can count on, it's that there will always be room for improvement.

+5 Internets | Just for clarity its not a 1 page bill, i think theirs is 200 some odd pages, thats the cliff notes version of the republican bill. The salient points if you will. I still find it sad this is what the republicans could come up with after 100 some odd days? Last edited by Veil; 11-05-2009 at 10:52 PM.. |

+3 Internets | I figured as much, but my attention span is lacking right now; thanks for pointing that out though, it was kinda my assumption after all.
