Yeah, they make all that shit in other countries because they tax a hell of a lot less, get tons of incentives, and cheap non-union labor.

Meanwhile, we still expect 15+ an hour plus bennies to tighten screws.

Its no wonder nothings made here anymore.

You understand that national defense is completely vested in the federal goverment you cant just go buy some private national defense insurance?

Here is the facts Democrats are running 1.4 trillion dollar yearly federal budget defict and there is zero room in current budgets to fund new programs. They have had to push themselves to there political limits in order to come up 900 billion in taxxes and medicare cuts in order to pay for there healthcare plan. Now there at point where there still 300 billlion short.

So where at a point where new debt is not a option and new taxxes are not a option ether. So faced with the reality that healthcare being pushed is dead we see the democrats like you simply retreat from reality and try and fund your socialist daydreams by cutting defense budget while were at war.

Your desire to cut defense is not based on anything other then your desire to take $ from defense budget in order to fund wastefull goverment spending.

Your offering fairy tale populist solutions to problems.

Healthcare reform is optional national defense isnt.

The costs would be far lower if America didn't go messing around getting involved in wars we don't need. Take Afghanistan and Iraq for instance. We already had our sights set on Afghanistan, which in and of itself was taking a chance, but Iraq? The whole thing was lunacy from the get-go. I may be more of a Libertarian, even to the point of isolationism, but I still want to know why we are willing to spend so much to achieve so little while at the same time making ourselves as a country look like a villain to the world.

That's true, but what is being done about it? It's as though we as a country are locked into treaties that prevent us from manipulating our market so as to encourage more manufacturing jobs to stay here, yet as we've watched more and more jobs go overseas over the years little to nothing has been done. I for one don't want to watch ourselves slide further and further until our wages and benefits either drop to our competitors ranges, or theirs rise to match ours. As an example, in my trade many locally are making about what they did 5-10 years ago, because so many are out of work and desperate for a paycheck. I've heard other people say they'd be willing to take paycuts from their pay levels from around 2000-2001, it's a mess all around.

That's one thing I have to credit Bush Jr for trying, I remember him fighting to change some treaty or another for the benefit of the steel industry and got shot down. And I'm saying that as someone who hates him.

As usual, you and a clue are in different time zones...

He was giving a nice basic explanation about why jobs keep moving overseas. Which isn't crying for the corporations, it's explaining why fewer and fewer jobs are here. If you're actually from MI, I'd think you'd be more sensitive to people losing their jobs.

Notice how the auto makers who had no need at all for a government bailout are almost all the ones operating in the south where they aren't as screwed by organized labor contracts? Coincidence?

Aren't there new talking points you need to update yourself on? Or are you going to continue to perpetuate old falacious arguments in an effort to get your jab in, however stupid it may be?

You're talking about Tristinn, so I assume that was a rhetorical question?

Fixed, etc., etc.

But I'm sure you're right. It must be greedy, needy American workers who are at fault. It's always struck me as strange that so-called conservatives are so fiercely pro-American until it comes to actual Americans who make things in this country.

I think the ones that were partially bailed out, note they did have to file for bankruptcy, were the ones that made shitty cars which US consumers didn't want to buy (GM is the fastest selling car in China, if memory serves me corret, which goes to show just how huge the US market for cars is). Ford didn't need a bailout, and posted a $1 billion profit today, I believe.

How old is that? It's not very accurate. Canada's national debt is about half of that figure, around 400-500 billion last I checked. We're big in to deficit as well, but nearly as much as the US is, so it is growing somewhat. But unless that figure also includes provincial government debt, it's just flat out wrong for Canada. And if it does, then it's flat out wrong for the US, as well, because it looks like the US figure is for national/federal debt only, not including state.

Canada has the best debt to GDP ratio of the G7, as far as I know. Or one of the best, anyway. We were a basketcase in the early 90's, but 10 years of reasonably decent financial stewardship turned that ship around and made us the envy of most of the developed world in terms of debt to GDP ratio, which is around 30-35%, not 60+ like that chart claims.

edit: That shit must be way old, because the UK has close to 100% debt to GDP, I thought. Or maybe I'm thinking their deficit is 10%.

Buy American.

Quote:
G.M.’s sales rose 4 percent from October 2008, helped in part by an aggressive advertising campaign and a 60-day money-back guarantee that the company recently extended into January 2010.

“We’re showing signs of momentum, clearly,” Michael C. DiGiovanni, G.M.’s chief sales analyst, said on a conference call with analysts and reporters.

The Ford Motor Company said its sales rose 3 percent, marking its third year-over-year increase in four months. Sales of Ford’s cars and crossover vehicles were up 15 percent.

Meanwhile, back in the Anti-American Southern States...

Recall on Toyotas and Lexus

Quote:
Toyota, which is asking owners of 3.8 million of its Camry, Avalon, Prius, Tacoma and Tundra models to remove or replace the mats, also characterized the problem of floor mat interference as an industry safety issue.

NHTSA received reports of 102 incidents in which the accelerator may have become stuck on certain Toyotas. The agency has not said how many of those incidents involved crashes. But an August accident near San Diego killed a California Highway Patrol officer and three family members when the Lexus ES350 he was driving barreled out of control. In a 911 call, someone in the vehicle reported the accelerator was stuck and the driver couldn't stop the vehicle.
Suck on that wingnut.
