Hi this is reality. The three major center-left governments in Europe are going to or have fallen back to the right. Germany is now a center-right coalition after the Social Democrats had their worst election since the NSDAP was on the ballots. Sarkozy's government is going to lose to conservatives in France, and the Labour party is running in 3rd, third!, place in Britain if elections were held right now.

You will see the right come back here too, it always does.

You seriously believe this is the end of the Republican party? Even Obama has stated that he foresees several house seats to be lost in the 2010 election. I believe that a lot of Independents that voted Obama into office are kinda ticked off at him right now, he has not lived up to his promises of change and a revolution of government. If he doesn't pull some bigass bunnies out of a hat in the next 3 years he's going to have a really tough re-election in 2012. I'm sorry if you don't agree with that but that's just my opinion.

You forgot to do your research on what the CDU led coalition actually represents. First of all, the Christian Democratic Union is more of a Liberal Conservative party(in the Eurpean sense) than a Christian democratic party. That has to do mainly with their leader and the current Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel. One of the reasons the CDU coalition was so successful, is because she moved her party more to the left. She refused to take definitive stances on abortion, gay rights or stem cell research and even went against the former leaders of the party in not denying global warming. They did all of these things because they realized they were losing ground to the Social Democrats every step of the way.

So Germany's leading conservative party has a Muslim loving, non-gay bashing woman telling people to stop listening to the Pope all the time and bam, instant win. The lesson there is that if you move more to the left, you win. Let's see what else you got.

You can not compare US Conservative/Liberal politics to that of Europe. In the US Conservatives/Republicans are not a party. They are a mindset or ideology of hatred and anger. The US Republican Party is little more than the mainstreaming of the KKK and Neo-Nazi movements. Conservatism is pure hatred of anything and everything that changes from the early 1900s of America.

Sure, they can gen up enough relatively normal people to win elections when it is their turn like George Bush or John McCain but in general the foundation of the Republican Party is built on homophobia, xenophobia, religiously motivated hatred and racism. Nothing can change or modify that foundation.
