At one point she mentioned she was tired of Dems harping on old shit, that it wasnt that bad. Begala said he couldnt let that slide and started to explain why he thought it was that bad, she cut him off with something like "Oh im sorry im just the young dumb blonde I dont know anything, Im not a smart political guru, but hey that was before my time" and Begala responded "well the 1700's were before my time but I know about the french revolution". Maher calmed it all down though, he treated her with kiddie gloves the whole time she was on and was really patronizing. I didnt like it.

Granted I haven't watched it (though I plan to and will surely apologize if the situation is otherwise), but a normal person (in this case young McCain girl) needs to have some sort of moderator keep the field even against Paul Begala. That guy is as ruthless a political operative as they come. He along with James Carville invented the never-ending campaign or whatever the hell they call it. From what I've seen of the girl, she isn't playing the same game Begala is, and if things were deteriorating into Crossfire then good on Bill Maher for bringing out the kiddy gloves.

Palin to stump for conservative Democrats

Brushing aside the criticisms of pundits and politicos, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she plans to jump immediately back into the national political fray — stumping for conservative issues and even Democrats.

"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said over lunch in her downtown office, 40 miles from her now-famous hometown of Wasilla — population 7,000 — where she began her political career.

"People are so tired of the partisan stuff — even my own son is not a Republican," said Mrs. Palin, who stunned the political world earlier this month with her decision to step down as governor July 26 with 18 months left in her term.

Well that is stemming from her religious views, which should be taboo to US politics, but strangely are not.

The real GOP is not 'christian' or 'catholic'; it is socially and fiscally conservative, and hasn't been in power in a long time. Kind of like how the moderate democrats don't really have a voice anymore either. The federal government of the USA has, for all intents and purposes, been overwhelmed by ideological bullshit that does no one any good.

Social conservatism is inherently religious. I'm not sure how you can say it isn't christian when every socially conservative hot-button issue has its foundation in biblical scripture. Fiscal conservatism yeah, it's pretty much been buried under all the other bullshit.
