That would never happen, the military would never intervene in such a situation.

...

...or would they?

The New Faces of the GOP. Funny because it is true.

There is more pressure by Republicans to get rid of Steele. They say if Steele does not start calling Obama a "Socialist" they will kick his ass out and find someone who will. Hopefully Steele is getting a good view of the real Republican party. I anticipate he will step down "to spend more time with his family" soon and allow the Republican party to vanish into obscurity.

Quote:
Republican state party leaders are rebelling against new Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele for failing to dub President Obama and the Democrats as "socialists." And the rebels insist that the label matters.

"You need a single voice," Sen. Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Republican, told The Washington Times. "I think Steele - I don't know him that well - but he needs to be the one who does that job."

Mr. Bopp said that the times "demand bold and aggressive leadership by the RNC. ... And it is time to identify the Democrats for what they are."
Source: The Washington Times (member of the Republican Echo Chamber)

The term "Liberal" did not seem to be working so they came up with "Socialist". When that does not work they will use "Marxist". When that does not work they will use "Communist". When that does not work they will use "Fascist". When that does not work they will use the "N" word. By that time they will be so small and angry that it really will not matter.

I love that calling Obama socialist raised the support for socialism in the US. I guess that's what we call unintended consequences. (Of course the respondents probably didn't know what socialism is and just think it's what Obama advocates)

Socialism = Sweden
Sweden = Hot fucking women.

Logical reasoning tends to falter after that point....

I think this "socialism" charge is the potential nail in the coffin for the GOP. When the banks pay back the bailout money with interest and GM pays back the bailout money with interest and the middle class continues to enjoy their tax cuts from Obama, the Republicans Party will officially be finished. Obama, unlike Bush, is keen to the daily chatter and the political happenings. I am sure Obama and Axelrod would see this as the way to off the Republicans for good. They keep forgetting that this is the team that beat the Clinton machine. It appears they are trying to hit him while his hands are full with the economy, 2 wars, etc. It will not work. This may actually be the end of our two party system.

They are doing like McCain did with the Palin pick. They are throwing a Hail Mary. Why stop at "Socialism"? Go for it all and call him the "N" word. That should have rally the troops back under the Republican tent, right?

I think it's pretty funny that the senior Republicans think that is what's wrong with the party, that they aren't calling Obama a socialist enough. If only they went from 3-5 mentions of the word "socialist" or "socialism" per hour to 5-7, they could really turn it around for Vanguard. When Meghan fucking McCain is the voice of reason and leadership in your party, you're doing it wrong.

Not that there's anything wrong with Meghan McCain, I think she is trying to do a lot to make the views of the party more mainstream. But god damn dude, everything coming out of the party is like a broken record. The socialist thing was tried, for months. No one gives a shit.

The republican party reminds me of a church pastor (Sorry you heavily religious folks). He has many anecdotal stories, interesting allegories, and creative props but in the end you could flip a coin and get the same response you would get from god for all that worship. The pastor may even have the best of intentions in all honesty and the church does occasionally do some good work for that flood of money they get in every Sunday (tax free).

They had 8 years in office and spent most of it preaching to us about all they were doing but eventually the people just got tired of waiting.

The Republican party indeed appears to be flopping like a fish out of water, but your post is off the mark.

The socialism charge doesn't matter one way or another. Whether the banks are making repayments is up for debate -- the banks and financial groupies claim that the government won't accept their early repayments, which smells like bullshit. As for GM, it's projected to miss its June billion dollar repayment and will probably enter a special bankruptcy right on the heels of Chrysler. Lastly, even if the tax hikes aren't federal, there are certain state and local increases on the way that idiots won't be able to distinguish from the democrats or Obama.

There's no nail in the coffin. The Republican party might fractionate and weaken, but it will be over idiotic ideological internal problems, not the three things that you incorrectly listed.

The counter to any charge of "socialism" is that the Bush Administration created TARP. Fox News is trying to revise history but that is a fact. Any charge of "socialism" must include TARP which is a Republican initiative.

If we are talking about political cycles here I just don't remember the Democrat Party being as dysfunctional in 2000. Sure the Republican party has 8 years to recover but they do not even think anything is wrong. The start of the recovery will be to understand what is wrong instead of trying to paint Obama and the Democrats with the latest "-ism" talking point from Rush Limbaugh.
