| Though I wouldn't want to rely on this but.. statistically speaking the economy is likely to turn itself around regardless.

Good things about Rhode Island: Clam Cakes at Point Judith. The Brick Alley Pub Dell's The Roast Beef place International Pockets The Tap Room Shitty bands at the Bon View Narragansett beer (god help me) 1st beach Surfing off the cliff walk Scuba diving on acid in Jamestown the Clam Chowder at the Black Pearl (over rated but still good) Drinking Sangria on the deck of the Spain Restaurant with some nice Paella Morning jog on the cliff walk Hitting up Lobster Traps for free meals Laughing at the people paying 50$ cover at Christies. That pizza place on Federal Hill Free lines in the bathroom at the Pelham The Jazz Festival The Blues Festival The free townie beach in Newport The Newport Winter/Spring/Fall Ball The Nordic Lodge The worst part: The stupid fucking people who live there. I swear to god, outside of Newport, everyone in that fucking state shares one fucking chromosone that they pass around. | |

| Rhode Island is one of the economically worst hit states in the US right now. The southern states have booming fucking economies compared to Rhode Island - which is traditionally a fucking shithole anyways, but it's definitely worse than normal right now. Personally I live in Ohio, which is arguably one of the biggest shitholes in the United States. Just think about the awful pieces of dogshit in this state that we try to turn into diamonds: Dayton, Canton, Toledo, Cincinnati, CLEVELAND, YOUNGSTOWN. Columbus is literally the only good area in the state, and even it is becoming a piece of shit. Plus, around 15,000 people lose their job every month, so there's not going to be anything to do in this state besides serve burgers to people who are on break from serving burgers at another burger joint. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so sad, but unfortunately the loser mentality has taken over Ohio, and now everyone just wants their fucking check from the federal government instead of actually trying to get ahead, so fuck them. Starve to death for all I care. Time to move to somewhere that isn't a shitpile. |

| Yeah, we are currently #2 in unemployment (behind Michigan), maybe due to being largely full of filthy lower class, blue collar workers, I dunno. Either way, we were hoping (needing?) something fast, especially with the promise of infrastructure support. Unfortunatley, as it drags on and things like edjukashun, food stamps, unemployment and infrastructure getting cut in place of shitty tax cuts, that hope is dwindling. |

+33 Internets | What's so great about Jindal? Honest question. I haven't heard much about him and wikipedia doesn't say anything extraordinary. He seems pretty generic-republican on his social issues which is understandable. Obviously he seems to be a popular governor so far and his youth is a plus I think. There just seems to be a lot of excitement about him for how little I really know of him. Just thought I might be missing something.

From what I've seen he seems to be fiscally conservative and socially moderate as well as being very articulate. I don't know too much about his actual policies or where he'd take a stand, but I'm waiting in anticipation to see how he would be under the spotlight. Warning: I'm young and just recently taken an interest in politics; I still have a lot to learn.

| Real Life Apologist | Reasons why Jindal is so popular right now: A: Minority B: Whipping one of the most politically fucked up states in U.S. history into shape in no time flat C: Being conservative enough to appeal to the base but pragmatic enough to appeal to moderates D: Charisma to boot I mean, do you define Obama by his positions? His positions are pretty generic liberal, they aren't why he won the election. They aren't why he came out of nowhere and schooled one of the most deeply entrenched politicians in Washington (Hillary). Not to mention, much like Obama and Bill Clinton, Jindal was an exceptional academic (Rhodes Scholar, same as Bill) Basically, he's a balanced conservative without the dumb/inexperience angle of Palin or baggage/fogey that came with McCain.
