You normal Republicans are fooling yourself if you think you are rid of Palin. Palin's resignation means that she will be the Republican nominee for President in 2012 in a landslide. She will make a vote for Palin a vote against the evil Mainstream Liberal Media. Rush Limbaugh will insure that she is the winner. Rush pushes a Palin nomination everyday. When Rush says "jump", real Republicans say "How high Rush?" Any normal Republicans left after that debacle will realize how dysfunctional the Republican Party has become and will leave the party for good and try to be Libertarians.

It also means that outside of killing puppies on live TV, Obama is a two term President. He will carry every state outside of the most extremely racist Southern States and Utah.

Why is there not widespread criticism that a person elected to public office is quitting for no good reason? She was elected to a 4 year term and barely served half of it. Now she is quitting and effectively unilaterally deciding who the governor will be... I dunno, it ranks up there with the most cowardly shit I've ever heard coming from a politician, and that is saying something.

You accept that job in good faith that you'll serve your term barring very extreme circumstances. The media being mean, your daughter getting knocked up, and "frivolous ethics charges" don't count as extreme. Do the job you were elected to do, point guard.

Well... the Lt. Governor is elected too, and I don't know about Alaska, but here 75% of the Lt. Governor's job is to wait for the governor to die/quit/be fired and step up to the job.

But yes. One governor dissapears for 5 days and another quits half way through their term. These are the things people should be pissed about, and less the "whys" behind it.

That is why she did it at this time but this will be a big story for the next few weeks. The only story in the news right now is the death of MJ and that is getting old. Plus, as someone who spends a lot of time monitoring the Republican grass roots I can tell you that Sarah Palin is a Republican Messiah. The fact that she constantly whines about the media, is a intellectual midget, did not take the stimulus, and is a redneck makes her legendary in Republican circles. Sarah Palin is not going away anytime soon. This make her (Republican) star brighter.

Real Republicans would sacrifice their soul to have Sarah Palin as President. To them, there is no substitute for her. You people who do not follow Republican politics do not understand the weight of Sarah Palin as a so called victim of the media.
