I think you need to look up the definition of discrimination. Aladain is 100% right that affirmative action IS discrimination. Its been judged by society, and in the past rightfully so, as NECESSARY discrimination, but it IS discrimination.

| In regards to the Senate: I think the Coleman victory will stick. With Oregon and Saxby winning either the current vote or the recount, it's looking like 43 seats for the GOP. I'm not sure how Stevens situation will end. If he goes to jail, there will be a special election, and the Dems might have an easier time winning that. Maybe the judge can give him work release to go vote in the Senate. 43 is enough to filibuster the really crazy stuff, especially with a few moderate Dems who won't go for those anyways. This will be very similar to 2000/2002 just with the tables reversed and the Dems driving the bus. |

| The Senate has to vote on whether to expel Stevens since he was convicted. I think they will expel him in order to get Begich in via a special election. Obama and the democrats have four weeks to campaign and build up the gotv effort in Georgia. Oregon is still predicted for Merkley (D) due to the counties still left out but it's going to be close like Franken/Coleman race. I agree that the Coleman lead will probably stick but it might not. In which case, 60 is still on the table (but unlikely). It's looking like 58-59 majority with Lieberman. I honestly think they will hold Lieberman hostage to his committee chairman positions. Vote with us on the key issues to prevent a filibuster or we drop you like a bad habit. I think he'll play ball. |

| My time has come. I am listening to Sean Hannity now. He sounds dejected and down. This is the greatest part of winning. I savor this moment like a fine wine. I wish his disappointment could somehow kill him. |

| I love how Bible thumpers neglect some things while embracing others. FYI: The Bible says a woman should NEVER lead and must NEVER lead. What is Sarah Palin? Idiots.

+75 Internets | New president faces increased risk of conflict, intel chief says - CNN.com Pretty sobering article from CNN. I liked the focus away from proximate factors in politics and onto base factors like resource competition. I wonder if McConnell is looking forward to 'intelligence' briefings that don't have Bush at the head of the table. |

I wasn't aware that things were quite that much in the shitter. I wonder how much of it is "worst case" thinking though? Will Obama need to put an even larger focus on alternative energy and creating affordable hybrid and completely electric cars for the country? Hopefully we can move toward that, as well as working to get this technology into the hands of everyone in the nation instead of the silly costs that are involved currently with owning a more "green" vehicle. The people who are polluting the most with their cars are the ones driving the 15-30 year old cars that are polluting like nobody's business. The people that drive these cars can't afford the 30-60k for a hybrid/electric. I'm just glad that I don't have to worry about how to get this technology into the hands of the country though. It's a tall task, but something that needs to be done as soon as possible in my opinion. /soapbox

| Pulled this off google trends at about 2am last night: ![]() It's crazy how brainwashed and fearful people are. I wonder how many McCain supporters who constantly mentioned "terrorism" and how if Obama is elected we are going to be attacked continuously even know what "terrorism" or a "terrorist" is. It's really sad and personal for me because my younger sister (21) has been brainwashed over the last two years with/by her (22) husband who was in the military for a short while, but never got sent to Iraq. He was a democrat and voted for Kerry in 2004 and was a democrat the day he left for the Marines. He came back completely different. Meanwhile they attack me for changing my viewpoint over the last four years. What did I do over the last four years? Graduate with two degrees with a 4.0 gpa. So education changed my viewpoint, and military changed his. Hmmmm. Btw I studied Philosophy and English and never once had a professor talk about politics. Anyways, it's sad to me because she isn't stupid, but she's just easily influenced and a follower. We argued badly last night because she really believes Obama is friends with terrorists and that when troops are withdrawn from Iraq there will be total chaos in America and women all over the nation will be running to hospitals to have their babies brains sucked out of their vagina in partial abortions. She literally could not listen/comprehend my explanation of partial abortion restrictions. She's an awesome person and one of my favorite people, but my god I can't believe an election would have ever caused so much family division and utter chaos/hateful fights as it has with mine. Just for fun: Dad: Republican Stepmom: Republican Dad's mom: Democrat Mom: Democrat/Independent Stepdad: Democrat Older sister: Democrat Older sister's husband: Democrat Younger sister: Republican Younger sister's husband: Republican Me: Democrat/Independent Girlfriend (3yrs): Democrat/Liberal Then our very close extended family is just as crazily/evenly divided. It's been utter chaos at family gatherings. Four years ago I was a big republican, but nothing fundamental has changed about my life/economic situation and Bush wasn't what put me away from the republican party. Basically things that Collin Powell has said recently are my exact viewpoints/reasoning.

| I don't think he'll admit it but I think IRB is going to miss ole George W. He's like the uncle who may have molested you as a child, but at this point he's a part of your family.
